I've always thought that Hopkins possesses the tools to beat Hagler in their primes at middleweight.

    :good

    Top 10 P4P, #2 Welterweight.

His lack of fights is refreshing. He certainly didn't waste any time. There is very little clutter. It was monster fight after monster fight.

He just about makes my top 10.
    His opposition was pretty dire.

I can't see Leonard in the top 10 myself.

Although there is some real quality in there, there are also greats with more fights who also have more quality.

If he'd beaten Hagler earlier, I'd have no worries. As it is, I have Ray comfortably in the no.20 spot, and only because he beat Kalule.

You have an argument but I don´t completly agree with it. Leonard has the better wins at the top but Pep had far more wins over contenders, more depth and better longevity. Got to count for something.

Good summary. IMO he has an argument for Top5 and is a definitve for the Top10 but not for the number one spot - neither is Hagler though whose opposition wasn´t that much better than Hopkins´, too many people grew up watching the fab4 and as a result overrate them a little - same as with 70s hws. Not saying they weren´t great fighters just not as great as some might think.

I won`t even consider Harry Greb for any list because I`ll never get to see him fight, I`ll never say nothing against him either, thats fair I think.

The best middleweight I`ve ever seen on film is Sugar Ray Robinson, the one that TKO`d Jake Lamotta in 1951... I think he`d beat the **** out of Hopkins tbh & he beats Monzon & Hagler as well.

Based on his almost surreal career, Harry Greb was the greatest middleweight of alltime. Why ? Cause no other middleweight who ever lived ,would do HALF as well, were he to have fought everyone of Harry Greb's almost 300 opponents . Just ponder this .Who of the middleweights
would even survive his gruelling schedule of almost weekly bouts against
everyone, big or small, black or white, and beat virtually everyone he fought...And oh yes : For the last few years with only one eye ! Astounding.

Strictly on his MW record and films of him Freddie Steele, beats Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins ,claim to fame was because of his amazing longevity, and not because he dominated his middleweight era... Steele also hit harder, and fought twice as many bouts
    in his competitive rich era...
