Do you remember Johnston moving up in weight and knocking out Roy Nash, thunderous shots that night. He went to the Edinburgh Commonwealth Games, and was put out by eventual winner Scotty Olson from Canada, the very same Olson who put McCullough out of the Seoul Olympics.
Johnston along with his brothers Ronnie and William[I think:huh], William Cowan and William Clyde all boxed for the Ballyclare Club under one of the Turkintons. The Ballyclare club would hold shows every Tuesday, yeah thats right every Tuesday:nut. It was strange when you went up to the club and seen all these teenagers with battered noses and missing teeth and such:D.

The difference with Arreola, De La Hoya and Victor Ortiz is that they say they are "Mexican America". Macklin states he is Irish and doesnt qualify it. Also Macklin is an Irish citizen and travels on an Irish passport and when he had his world title fight he came out with and Irish flag, had the Irish national anthem played and was announce to the arena as being Irish.

The example you cite never do that unless they also have the Union Jack with them as well.

I think there is a clear distinction D!

jesus I'd love Katie to get the gold but that Queen underwood one is a monster in that division. She looks artifically conditioned - just saying. So Katie needs a game plan for that lady if they cross paths again. As for the Russian it's close. I think Carruth is right - everyone in the media needs to back down a little on her.

I suppose the Dean Byrne example shows what happens when you take a fight at short notice but I didn't know he had other options at the moment.

Any potential opponents you can divulge?

Both his side and O'Kane's side say they're willing, but I wouldn't be surprised with a Tolan like opponent. Anto also said he'd consider anyone like Spike, Cruise, Mush, and that's the type of opponent to expect I reckon.

Don't think we'll be seeing O'Kane until Matchroom get him on a show, or a McCloskey bill in February/March (two dates booked at the Odyssey). I think himself and Fitzgerald would be a cracking fight by the way, real head down throw leather stuff and see who wilts first.
