How many of the people who believe that Wlad slaughters Jeffries also believe that Wlad slaughters Johnson?

Hard to compare Era's Jeffries was the best in his....Jeffires strengths where stamina, Vlad has improved greatly in that area but has failed in the past because of it. Vlad has a strong amateur pedigree and much more professional experience than Jeff as far as chin Jeff appears to have solid whiskers but was not blasted or tested by Corrie Sanders...Vlad's defense has been great, his movement much improved and his power is solid.....I am not ready to rate Vlad's status until he retires but presently as a dominant champion is moving up and looks to be improving with each outing....close

Last time I did a ranking I put Jeffries at #13. Seems mighty generous of me now at this current mood of mine. However, that puts him top 15 and I have more trouble ranking active fighters. Wlad may be top 15, but I'm not going to put him at #13 so I'll still go with Jeffries, although, I'm sure if Wlad retired today and this thread came up 5 years from now I'd say he ranks higher.

In a fight under any rules Wlad knocks him out. That primitive boxing would never be effective today no matter who tries to use it, and anyone can be knocked out at heavyweight against a big puncher. Some don't take head to head ability into ATG rankings, so I'm sure an argument can be made for JJ being ranked higher. I don't know much about his career other than that he refused to fight Johnson, but perhaps he was a dominant fighter anyway. I don't know.

Those that think JJ beats Wlad under 1900s rules probably aren't considering how much power Wlad would hit with without padded gloves, or that Wlad could hit his opponents as they are getting to their feet under those same rules. Think about that for a moment. In that respect the first knockdown Wlad scores and that's all she wrote

    The sparring at 2.10 :D

I admire jeffries as a tough strong and well conditioned fighter but I would still pick Vlad in a head to head matchup. It's a styles matter. Vlad is taller with a longer reach and a more polished technician as far as fundementals are concerned. Someone mentioned earlier about Vlads amateur pedigree and professional experience and that has to count for something. Let's not forget either that Vlad didn't draw the color line. Jeffries opponentts were considerably smaller than he was. None of them approached the size of Sanders for example and even Byrd was bigger than most of Jim's opponents...and more skilled as well. I give Jim credit for what he did against what was there at the time but I feel that a skilled super heavyweight with more modern technique or style like Vlad would win. Not easily mind you but win nonetheless.

Right now I have both Wlad and Jeffries rated closely, but if Klit continues to win over the next 2-3 years, he'll probably surpass him.

Jeffries never got knocked out by a complete journeyman nor a fat golfer.

    That's for sure.
