As harsh as this sounds George groves for all his talents will never be viewed as a star by the british public, people throughout the sport have been attracted to athletes for various reasons hatton had an impressionable boy next door personality, Naz was cocky and funny, Lennox lewis was a beast, Amir khan had allot of glitz and glamour coming off athens and was a brit-asian,
George groves has NOTHING, the only reason why people supported him was so he'd wipe the floor with degale, he hardly won over the public with the performance IMHO, george groves outside his talents has nothing about him, women aren't going to flock to his weigh ins like they do with Canelo alvarez, he doesnt have an impressionable personality like naz or Hatton, all he is, is a bad looking kid from london whos only a good guy, I honestly wouldnt be surprised if in a few years groves becomes a reigning champion but is overshadowed by someone like Anthony joshua in joshuas 3rd professional fight.

My brother and a few mates who dont know much about Boxing know who Groves is because he beat the cocky-mouthed DeGale, I think Groves could well garner a massive following if he works hard in and out of the squared circle, he's still young and sometimes the public can take to a "good guy", a "Gentleman" George or in this case "Saint" George can be potentially very popular! :good

He is gonna have serious problems being on boxnation, if he was with Hearn of even Fat Mcick he woukld garner a HUGE following.

He's not bad looking (no homo)

He seems quite witty & articulate. Imo his popularity will grow as his career progresses.

I think he's pretty funny, which always helps. The blogs that he did before Haye fought Wlad were really funny and he seems to have a similar sense of humour when talking. Casual fans will always like that. As long as he stays humble, he'll have no problems gaining a pretty decent following.

I think he's got the potential to draw in fans . He comes across as a normal every day humble guy. People can identify with that . Maybe women wont find him sexy but they'll look at him and see a nice guy that they could imagine going for a date with , or their brother , son or grandson . Men will see him as a guy you could go for a pint and watch a game of football with .
He has all the personal qualitys you need to build a following . Average looking straight lower middle class/ working class (not a chav ) white guy . pleasant and a bit self deprecating .
Pity he's stuck on a channel far far away

No he is not ugly, it's fairly pathetic stuff that came from Degale and people have run with. He's just an normal, average looking man who comes across very well in interviews, is often quite funny and is pretty articulate.

He can definitely do well for himself, because he will get a loyal following who see him as a down to earth one of the lads, and because he can be funny without swearing and mouthing off it will appeal to some of the housewife types who only see a big fight when their husband is watching it or when a boxer appears on a mainstream TV show.

I don't expect him to get a Naz or Hatton following, but they are anomalies rather than norms. Groves has not even had major exposure, if he won a world title and started getting big coverage and interviews on chat shows etc he would build a really good following. He has 25,000 Twitter followers already, which is not bad.

I think a lot of people will like him because he is just a normal every day lad, he also has good character and is quite funny.
