Sounds like Pavlik is Going back to 160 and they are targeting Chavez Jr.

Like I said earlier, Pavlik was always a bad style matchup for AA. We saw what happened when he moved up. It wasn't the weight that was his problem.

 

I would rather see Chavez fight Lee. AA if he still has something could be a good fight, b/c Kelly will provide plenty of action, it will just be up to Arthur to fight back.

Chavez is too protected.

 

Arum made his money off of him, but he might keep him around holding the belt in reach until Arum has another MW to take it.

 

Pavlik has pretty much lost his base. He kept depending on fans from Ytown to fill the venue and then showed up for Martinez in less than top condition. He never really made the effort to nationalize his success. Now that he is leaving Ytown his he has an identity crisis PR wise. Arum is the master, in spite of what the haters say though, when it comes to promotion. We shall see.

 

Kelly should not let that greedy old man tell him who to fight. What he needs to do is win, Arum does not know that, only Pavlik and his trainer know the best fight for him.

 

I'm not sure Arum would put Chavez in with Pavlik, I guess it would depend on how Pavlik was looking. I thought Pavlik had trouble with 160 so I don't know what weight Pavlik would even come back at. Best thing is for Pavlik to simply get back in the ring and then go from there.

 

I like the plan they had for Pavlik this year when he was gonna fight the tuneup & than fight Bute. Fighter's need a fight that they are gonna be "up" for when they get to the elite level. I don't believe guys like Pavlik, Taylor, or Abraham belong at 160 at all but are trying to make it back for obvious reasons. The thing is Team Pavlik hasn't even attempted a run at 168 yet. I think they should attempt that first

 

TR has matchmakers. People keep railing on about Arum as if TR is a one man show. Arum has people that have a much better idea about matchups on the physical level than he does. Arum knows the market for those matchups.

 

Most felt that plan was 'rushed'. Long layoff and then a hurried tune up and then Bute.

Kelly didn't look nearly as bad at 168 + as most people think because they were influenced by the commentary. What drove the commentary? Kelly's ill advised remarks about Showtime and HBO when the SS tourney was announced.

 

This is a good sign that he's putting in the work and is more easily able to make the weight!

 

I only hope for the best. What Rust said about running into him makes me doubt it goes too good though.
