Joshua Clottey is the most unlucky and underrated man in boxing.

I couldn't agree more. He gets no love because he's not marketable and he comes from Ghana. He beat Cotto's ass...got robbed against Margarito and didn't do that badly against Pacquiao contrary to what most people say. He landed more clean shots on Manny than Manny landed on him.

 

why is that? Boxing is one of the dirtiest sports there is & you have to be naive if you don't believe fixed fights are part of the game. It is what it is I'm not saying Clottey wins in a straight up boxing match, but Clottey is nice. He's nice enough to win some rounds against Pac & to be competitive against anybody. It was obvious what was is going on there in that fight, but some people refuse to believe these things happen. The same with peds. Very naive people on this forum who believe everything is clean and fair in boxing lol

 

If you are Clottey, and you think you can beat the guy in front of you, don't you think it is a wise idea to go for it and beat the guy knowing you can get more paydays when you beat one of the most biggest draws in the sport today? C'mon dude, common sense tells the obvious thing to do. A million is too cheap compared to the many more millions for paydays you get when you beat the guy. :nono

I'm aware of the facts that happens in boxing, but simple analogy tell the obvious, not unless if you don't use it well

 

speaking of fixed fights, I really need to watch Margarito-Clottey again. That fight was around the time Arum was trying to make a name for Margarito as the most feared man at 147. Only seen the fight once. The thought of a fix never crossed my mind at that time. However, looking back, you had Clottey outboxing the **** out of Margarito making him look bad & than Margarito sweeps the rest of the fight? hmmm Stylistically very good fight for Clottey, really has no business losing to Margarito

 

Please man, Top Rank would bury him just like they did Zahir Raheem. Zahir Raheem beat one of the top draws in the lower weight classes & it's as if it never happened. TR treated him like **** after that fight. Im sure you can google those interviews of Raheem talking about it

 

why do you think? Did clottey ever stand a chance of beating Pacquiao anyway? So why would it need to be fixed? Get real bro . That was the same Clottey we've seen before but he had a guy in front of him throwing 100 punches a round. Clottey has that turtle defense and a low punch output to begin with. The fight would always play out the way it did.

 

Who knows if he would have actually fought.

 

Mayweather-Ortiz looked waaaaaaaaaay more fixed than Pac-Clottey.

 

They fixed the fight so Pacquiao would win a boring decision over Joshua Clottey whom he didn't have to fight. Yeah, that makes sense. A worthwhile risk. Sure...

 

What does it have to do with Raheem? Do you understand what you are saying? Were talking Manny PAcquiao here, don't you think you would be a global attention if you beat a fighter with that kind of Star Power? Dude Clottey killed his own career by shelling out of the fight before TR could have as you assumed. He could have gotten a global attention should he had beaten Pacquiao. Imagine him fighting Mayweather next, it would have been larger payday for him; So think about what happened to his career right now that he "throwed" the fight away against Pacquiao. Which do you think would have been the wiser decision? Common sense pal :good

 

Ortiz-Mayweather was fixed. So was Mayweather-Dela Hoya. bought fought like fruits and kept it close so they could have another rematch but floyd scared out because the rematch would be the real fight

 

Clottey is an awesome fighter. His opaque popularity shades the skilled fighter that he is. His management team is not one of the best, that's clear. But in all honesty, I wish his defense came that easy to me. His boxing IQ is highly underrated as well. Re-watch the Manny/Clottey fight and watch that black beast with full attention and you'll be surprised how much damage and doubt he caused Manny with that lead right hand. Clean and crisp punches. Something even Cotto failed to do to Clottey's extent.

 

Fights don't get fixed to be borefest decisions won by the huge favorite. Stop talking trash, dude.
