Barnett may have given him problems. I would favor Fedor, but Barnett had a chance. The current Heavies, Cain and JDS, would most likely beat him up. Definitely JDS.
You are chemically imbalanced if you really believe this. Or just not taking competition into account. :good
Am I? you just pulled Barnett out of your ass even though he lost to CroCop 3 times. How do you take competition into account? Crocops UFC career?
I asked the guy who came close to beating Fedor in his prime & you answered with 3 maybe`s, Barnett, JDS & Cain, 3 men that Fedor never thought... thanks mate, you just proved my point... nobody came close to Fedor, all the maybe`s in the world ain`t changing that, especially when 1 is Josh Barnett who lost 3 times to Cro-cop who lost to Fedor decisively, a prime Nogueira (fantastic fighter) lost hands down 2 out of 3 times to Fedor & he is easily the next best HW ever, thats proof enough of Fedor`s greatness. The man was like 31-1... thats like a record of a great BOXER, records like that in MMA are unheard of... Fedor is the greatest, I can say that without doubt & he`s not in my top 5 favourite fighters.... give respect were its due.
Big Nog, Mirko...close fights. You can throw in Arona in there who many felt won that fight. Other than that no opponent stands out because most of them are Japanese jokes or UFC castaways. Heck Hughes has had a better resume than Fedor and hes nowhere near Fedors greatness to most people. One of the greatest HWs of all time yes, always will be. Unsurpassable as GOAT HW? Absolutely not. And as P4P consideration, him along with Big Nog will be the first to be replaced out of the top 5 ATG.
You have not taken into account mma being a fairly new sport and the evolution of fighters, fedor in his prime was head and shoulders above any at the time. He has got older and newer more skilled fighters have evolved but that doesn't take away from what he has achieved.
You are right MMA has evolved slightly as evidenced by a guy like JDS whos a mountain of a man who has good technique and moves like a WW. But no Fedor was not head and shoulders ahead of everyone, not Nog and Mirko at least in Pride. And who would have known how Randy wouldve fared up to him. And who knows, maybe even Barnett. Im sure Barnett would beat him now in a one sided fight. I'm not taking anything away from him because I still rank him as the GOAT at HW. What Im saying is, he has contemporaries (Silva, Hendo, even GSP) that has remained consistently on top of their game longer because they have adapted well.
Gretzky is the ONLY team sport athlete that I put in the same discussion as Don Bradman. The (almost meaningless) problem for Gretzky is that there is no equivalent of Lemaux in cricket. There is no #2 "what if" man. But Gretzky has me in awe at his dominance. Like Bradman, he is a player that if you love the sport and you missed him, that sucks for you because you won't see another like him if you live to be 100. :hat
THe new era of MMA fans make me sick First Brock Lesnar was going to become the next big thing, than cain velasquez, Now JDS JDS wont even defend his title once, he will lose it to alistair Let me know when someone is the no 1 HW for 8 years - UNDISPUTED again, than we can talk.
So Fedors ranking is hurt because at the tail end of his career he lost to a MW apparently (A MW who also just beat the former UFC LHW champion..) Yet GSP faces nothing for tapping to strikes to a LIGHT WEIGHT JOURNEYMAN in his PRIME???? Anderson doesnt lose stock for getting his **** dominated than subbed in his prime by a journeyman in Chonan?? Takase?? Yur hypocrisy is sickening
