Murray can beat Sturm

Sturm has a nice jab, not the best but it's good. Murray has to take it away stop him getting into a early rhythm. Unsettle him and try to make it a dogfight something Sturm isn't fond of doing but to be fair to him has being willing to do.

Sturm will defeat and out box another Brit. Give Sturm balls for rematching Macklin and he propably stops him late. There was clear Gap between who was top level boxer that night when he strugled with Mackling once Sturm just started to Box.

Watched Sturm v Macklin again earlier. Still scored it to Macklin (7-5) but Sturm does really well. He gets outworked but lands the cleaner shots throughout and some of the shots he digs in are brutal. It's only because Macklin was so focussed and fighting intensely that he was able to take them. Plus Macklin is a seasoned fighter with plenty of experience fighting against different styles.

I still don't see what Murray can do to beat Sturm. If he tries to outbox him Sturm will bide his time and after 4 or 5 rounds I think he'll start to dominate and probably stop Murray with a body shot.

As said before, 3/1 is massive.

 

i really do not like Sturm but he is a very very good fighter. i will have fingers and toes crossed for Murray but this is a massive ask.

i hope i'm wrong but my head is telling me Sturm by late stoppage or landslide UD.

 

Sounds like genuinen Calzaghe fan. Outworked, Greater Workrate and so on. It is about Landing the most cleanest blows in the Fight which Sturm did.

Only reason Macklin had the succes he had is because some weird reason Sturm was unusual inactive for early and it took some rounds to adapt for Macklin but after that it was all Sturm. i was shocked how clueless Macklin was after Sturm got in to his rhythm.

 

"Some weird reason"? Nothing to do with Macklin putting more pressure on him than he expected then. Or Macklin constantly digging away under the arms and around the guard upset Sturm's own attacks.

Like I said, Sturm did land the cleaner punches throughout but Macklin completely pummelled him for the first 6 or 7 rounds. Winning almost every exchange they had in close. The only punch Sturm could land properly was his jab and he sometimes followed it up. But every time he had a burst like that, 10 seconds later Macklin would be on top of him again forcing him to the ropes.

And I'm not definitely a Calzaghe fan

 

Murray is domestic level, Sturm has had over 20 world title fights.
Sturm to win every round and Murray gets pulled out.

 

Sturm is still levels above Murray, but Sturm looks like he is on the slide, he should be looking for bigger fights against the big names than cashing in on fighting untested propspects, I want to see the first round or so before I go with my prediction.

 

I put £20 on Sturm by stoppage + £10 joining up bonus from Sky. 3/1 were just too good odds, I know Sturm's KO record ain't brilliant, but he was backing Macklin up big time in the last couple of rounds of their fight and Murray isn't even as good as Macklin, he's getting stopped and I'll be getting £110 which will go down a treat.

Sturm was really frustrating for me though. With a better gameplan he would've won comfortably but every time he landed a punch he threw **** all behind it.
