    :deal

the most gifted boxer of the decade was MIA when top prospects were there to be had. he had the tools to win over them but decided to retire. as soon as these cats start losing to each other, he comes back.

simple, back when cotto had just beaten mosley and when floyd had just beaten hatton, it was the biggest fight not only in welter, but the biggest fight in boxing back in 2008. ellerbe field some weak excuse then when a fight w/ cotto was suggested that cotto is a non-draw while floyd choose to retire and fight big show in WWE. floyd said that he would not let "boxing" retire him.

He defended his 147 belts against a 140lb fighter and then retired

That too, returning when everyone literally beat each other up already.
    Mosley>Margo>Cotto>Clottey,Mosley.

Coming back to fight Marquez and not making weight doesn't look too cool in my eyes even though he didn't use the size advantage to shut out JMM.

He fought Mosley, an older one. Everybody could argue whether he could beat a younger version. We won't see it anymore though.

I personally think that Floyd avoided actual talented welters to maintain his undefeated record. Cotto, Margarito, etc. were all risks. Why not just take the easier route by fighting fighters like Gatti, baldo, judah, etc.? I think at the time it was all about business.

According to the fact that Mayweather wanted the same amount of money to fight Hatton or Cotto, he viewed Cotto as much of a threat as Hatton.

Also, when was the last time Floyd fought a TR fighter? Bob Arum doesn't want Floyd to make a dime and have his fighter lose to him.

And I guess you have never seen Cotto's response to a potential fight with Paul Williams back in 07 and 08...

Floyd is definitely a ducker, but he never ducked Cotto, and Cotto fans can't say **** about Floyd ducking. Cotto is no better. He just hides behind his promoter saying that same stupid **** about fighting who his promoter puts in front of him.

At least Margarito has the nuts to fight someone whether Arum wants him to or not. Cotto is a ***** and will hopefully get what's coming to him tonight once and for all.

where did you get that ****? when the whole of boxing was asking him of the cotto fight, ellerbe just said that cotto is a non-draw while floyd just immediately retired. it's the time frrame when the WW division was waxing hot and fighting each other except floyd who was fighting delahoya and hatton.

the better question is, when was the last time floyd fought a non-GBP fighter? i understand he loves those GBP in-house fights so we would never have to see him fight threats like cotto back in 2008, pacquiao back in 2010 ( and even now), and martinez in 2011. we would just be fed by this constant overmatched GBP opponents that floyd loves.

old article. i was talking about the year 2008 just after cotto beat mosley and floyd beat hatton.

and in that article, it was mentioned that floyd did not fought margarito because of a "bruised" right hand according to ellerbe himself. i didn't know about that.

No you misinterpreted he says that his hand is hurt and that when it heals and we decide to take a fight we will fight Margarito if it's the best option.

Floyd had been wanting to retire since the Oscar fight so if he wants to retire that's up to him but if he wanted the same purse to fight Cotto as Hatton then he clearly saw them as equal threats.

    floyd's opponents since 2007:

    ortiz - GBP
    mosley - GBP
    marquez - GBP
    hatton - GBP
    dela hoya - GBP

    pac's opponents since 2007
    marquez - free agent
    mosley - free agent
    margarito - TR
    clottey - TR
    cotto- TR
    hatton - GBP
    dela hoya - GBP
    diaz - TR
    marquez - GBP
    barrera - GBP

cause the part-time boxer/part-time promoter delahoya at 154, which roach said that could not pull the trigger in the training camp anymore and was stopped by a LW just a year after fighting floyd was a big threat to floyd who was the p4p king then.

    A) Marquez is a TR fighter - go check their website

B)http://www.badlefthook.com/2011/6/10/2217793/top-rank-declines-option-shane-mosley-a-free-agent - so was mosley for the pac fight

    C) More people wanted the De la Hoya fight than the Cotto Fight - FACT.

    D) http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2619&highlight=hatton+mayweather - order of what people wanted Mosley, Hatton, Cotto
