First off the interviewer is completely out to lunch saying Bute is an HBO fighter.

Second, the interview is pre-May/Ortiz, 2 months old. Now that Dirrell's got a date on Showtime (same card as Taylor's comeback), SHO execs might very well push for this fight to happen especially if Ward-Froch warrants a rematch. Dirrell is fighting the same southpaw Pavlik was supposed to face before going up against Bute.

Only thing is, Bute-Dirrell might not have a belt at stake.

9 months is all the IBF give their champs between mandatories. Last one for Bute was Mendy in July, and the IBF website states that Bute's next mando date falls in April. The IBF owns up to their own rules more so than the WBC/WBA folks.

"Once this initial mandatory defense obligation has been satisfied, the Champion shall defend his championship within intervals of no more than nine (9) months against the leading available contender in his weight class as designated by the Championships Chairman. "

Bute was interviewed recently and said he's not interested in fighting the winner of Andrade-George, IBF title eliminator scheduled for... Dec 17th. Well he cringed and said "huuh I don't know about that fight" and kept on talking about the S6, so that does it for me.

...could that fit in Interbox's plan of having Bute fight at MSG in April? Getting stripped in the process?

(I believe the purpose of their late "let's promote a fight in the US ourselves" statement was to make noise, and nothing else)

I'd be perfectly happy with Bute-Dirrell in April. On the S6 rematch card, please. :happy

    Predictions?

Very close fight. My mind says Dirrell SD via edge in combination of speed & accuracy, heart says Bute 8-4 UD or late TKO.

    :bbb

It's a great fight. Dirrell, as much of a heartless twat he is, the guy is damn talented. He beat Froch and Abraham and he'd be Bute's toughest yet.
