Anybody have information on this. Benn has stated a few times that he lifted throughout his boxing career and I have seen very brief footage of about 10 seconds on a tribute video for Benn where he appears to be doing barbell curls and incline chest presses. Does anyone know how many days a week he lifted. All of the specific exercises and amounts he lifted?

Can't give you the specifics, but yes Nige did lift weights. He did everything. In fact his training routines are legendary, particularly his ab work, which influenced the likes of Floyd Mayweather. Much of his stuff he got from the army. He trained like a maniac.

As Slip said Benn trained like a maniac, frenetic pace! I remember he'd always have the weights on the neck and lay on the ring with head on outside and have weights attached to head to strengthen neck muscles.

Found this on Benn's training..(Atberry has a thread which has a different regime..)

As you say, Mand. That neck harness work off the ring apron was incredible. My favourite was his mad standing sit-ups. I tried them and could only do about 4 or 5.

 Glad to know i'm not only one! I'm tired just reading his regime and intensity. He trains like AM boxers do for 2-4 hours a week he's doing it full time. The AM lads try to fit in as much as possible and have noticed they train at more of a pace then some of the pro's do but Benn was different he did everything at fight pace.

Can't find anything but basically it was 100mph with old school dance music in background. Loved watching it in promo before the fight.

Found this on Benn, It's in build up before the Logan fight.

boxers should just train for the olympic lifts, specifically the clean and jerk

disagree strongly, olympic lifts are just the latest phad for sports to adopt because they are great for explosive power. However the major flaw with them is that they are very technique heavy and a sport in itself there fore carry big risk of injury that frankly isnt worth it. I work in a gym where olympic lifts have become very popular..... and very rare to see even 1 person doing it with completely correct form. There are other ways that are just as effective.

There was a TV crew following Benn in Miami circa '89-'90 and he said he did weights every evening with Mickey Rourke before dining out with him.
