Why did Cotto stop hooking to the body like early in his career?

Cos now he has a complete Arsenal of punches. It's not good to rely on one punch you end up trying to hard to land it. It was clear to see how rounded Cotto's game is now and how fluid he is with his combination punching.

I don't know what it is,but he seems to have a different set of skills against Margarito.
I never had him having that wonderful defensive ability before the first five rounds v AM and all the rounds tonight. He bobs, parries and counters beautifully.

He didn't stop. He was kicking the **** out of Foreman with bodyshots.

Throwing body shots is never the best idea when fighting a guy like Margo. You have to get close enough and you have to commit to it. Cotto wasn't going to leave himself open or give Margo opportunities to land his punches.

Boxeo Cubano 101 Gotta get me some of that **** down! He looks more dynamic than he was in his fight with Foreman and Steward as his trainer. He was quite stiff in that fight, slower, didn't throw combinations.

This Cotto looks a beast. Cotto V Floyd or rematch Pacman and attempt to redeem himself once more and avenge both losses. He definitely needs to get a big one next.

He threw a few tonight, ironically the first body shot (similar to the first one in the Margarito I fight) strayed low and the ref gave him a warning. But still, his body attack is not nearly as consistent as it used to be. That probably was my only gripe with him tonight. When he would tie Margarito up and push him back, he was in perfect position for a hook to the body, but didn't let it go.

Look he didn't want to engage in a toe to toe brawl. He kept his distance and used. Great footwork to get away from Marg. I rather he didn't stay in close and try to throw body punches. He fought the right right tonight.

Yeah, but in more than a few of those instances, he threw combinations to the head when he was in perfect position for his hook to the body. There was a time in his career when in those spots, he would throw a left hook to the body, left uppercut to the chin...similar to Tyson's right hand to the body, right uppercut to the chin combo. I was looking for that combination all night, but it wasn't there.

Cause Margarito is slow and it's relatively easy to hit him in the face and target his GLASS EYE!!
