Really too bad that the two cards overlapped so much, and this card unfortunately was the one that suffered, despite featuring two world class bouts. Props to IB for returning to this card after the fact, sitting through both fights, and scoring them. Actually, your round-by-round descriptions, though succinct, still gave an excellent insight into what happened. Also loved your comedy bits, didn't know you had it in you!!! Only bummer for me is that I was really hoping Agbeko would win the rematch, after getting absolutely robbed in the first fight, in which he should have gotten a draw, DQ win, or even a decision win if proper point deductions had been made. Glad he at least got a rematch, another paycheck, and the CHANCE to avenge himself.

Edit: Morel won by UD, but no details available.

...and yeah, I was hoping for King Kong to exact some vengeance tonight but couldn't let that affect my scoring. Mares took him to school. (same way he unexpectedly took Perez to school in their rematch, funny enough. Against one guy he makes all sorts of subtle adjustments and improves dramatically from the first meeting to the second, and against the other he does far worse the second time and everything good he'd done the first time just fell apart on him or wasn't even part of his gameplan ...:think)

I HAVE to see the Moreno fight now. It will make me feel better about Agbeko.

Had exactly the same for both, really enjoyed both the fights on the Showtime card. Some great skilful displays in both fights.

    1. 10-9 Mares ( Fairly Close )
    2. 10-9 Mares
    3. 10-9 Mares
    4. 10-9 Mares
    5. 10-9 Agbeko ( Close )
    6. 10-9 Mares
    7. 10-9 Mares
    8. 10-9 Mares
    9. 10-9 Mares
    10. 10-9 Mares
    11. 10-9 Mares ( Close )
    12. 10-9 Mares

    Final: 119-109 Mares

The thing is there are many rounds you could give to Agbeko but there are none that u cannot give to Mares. I like about 119-109-117-111 Margins on the cards, Judges did great.

:happy Keep those cards pouring in, folks.

Note: SweetHomeBama did a nice job covering the Showtime RBR in my absence while I focused on the HBO PPV last night, and his scoring in Moreno-Darchinyan was spot on - but he had Mares-Agbeko extremely close in the end. :blood I just can't see that.

Did anyone else give Joe more than four or five rounds? :huh If so, why? It's maybe the worst I've ever seen him. (or tied for worst performance with the one against Will Gonzalez and maybe Perez I...)

Lunging. Missing. Wide hooking (not his game at all). No jabs until very late. Ugly, crappy performance by King Kong's standards.

Also: while Mares was a little dirty ( a few low blows albeit less than last time and against Darchinyan, elbows to the face, some rabbit punches) Agbeko was honestly as bad this time between butts and pulling down on Mares' head. So I don't want to hear anybody crying about how he didn't get a fair shake again due to Mares getting away with ****. He got away with a lot of nonsense as well. :deal

Clearly one of the two best in the world @ 118 now.

The only question left is, #1 or #2? :think
