Leading up to the rematch between Cotto and Margo, there was much talk about this fight being a measure of what really was in Margo's gloves in the first fight. In the aftermath of THE rematch reflect back on your thoughts on what the deal was in the first match.
We learned that despite all the pre fight posturing it is Cotto who is stone cold. We will never know about the first fight however the rematch was a clinic. Would i have liked to see Cotto go toe to toe to 'prove' Margo did not have the same power now? Yes. But understand why he didnt and that said when they did trade Cotto got the better of Margo. Worth staying up to 6am for :deal
1-that cotto has learnt from his mistakes and even now he can pull off a great performance 2-that psychologically margo was shocked by cotto's performance and was in denial from 24/7 to the post fight interviews 3-that there is something about margo not having much power behind his shots this evening/morning which will cloud his pervious victories as kellerman said: "if you couldn't tell in the Mosley fight how could you be sure against cotto?" 4-that cotto needs to let to of arum big time! Arum was with margo through this whole wraps fiasco! 5-That margo is a stupid cheating idiot who has now allowed his eye to get more busted! 6-that bob arum set this fight up to feed one of his fighters to the dogs ie the one who loses 7-that top rank didn't give a **** about margo's eye neither did he nor the corner of margo 8-margo claims cotto hits like a girl well he got schooled and possibly partially blinded by a girl-like puncher 9-that cotto don't give a **** about margo and his eye! 10-that boxing was finally saved after a few bs fights, decisions this fight made our night up for the fans finally we also feel generally satisfied!
Margarito should never been allowed to fight with his eye condition. It only took 3 rounds and that eye closed up so fast. Give him credit he came to fight and made Cotto run around the ring, clinching. It's clear as day that if Margarito was 100 percent healthy. Cotto would have been stopped late in the fight.
You and I must have very different definitions of "clear as day". The fight I watched looked like it was going to the scorecards with Cotto pitching a near shutout.
We learned that Mares is still developing and his footwork managed to nullify Agbeko's skill advantage on the inside. We also learned even though Abner got rid of most low blows, he throws a lot of kidney punches and pulls the head down, needs to get rid of those because otherwise he's a cool young fighter with big potential, but also very lucky to be undefeated at this point.
