.. erik morales was allowed to finish the fight with maidana with his right eye entirely closed since the first round? how far worse did marg have it? or was it because of the history that marg had with his eye that the dr took special attention? This content is protected This content is protected
I think the simplest answer may just be that there were different doctors and referee's in the two fights making independent judgments. We shouldn't be surprised if these vary from time to time. Especially if the rules and/or the commission give them sufficient leeway in making decisions.
Morales - No history of eye surgery. Margarito - Two eye surgeries in the last year. It would not look good if Margarito was blinded in the eye after being cleared fit to fight.
morales is a ****in warrior btw. so is margarito as he would have continued if only they allowed him to.
same as i see it. unless margarito's eye just was worse than morales'. probably a cut somewhere under that lump that was detrimental.
Maybe, but in all likelihood, they were probably just making sure they avoided a **** storm in case any permanent damage was caused. Maybe they knew his eye wasn't 100%, maybe Arum had some influence in getting Margarito cleared...the ref was looking very closely at Margarito's eye as early as the end of the first round :conf
i disagree. same as the first fight, margarito might have come back strong late in the fight. cotto was bruised up by 9 and margarito was still coming forward.
