Well, to be honest, Cotto moved a bit more this fight than the fight before. Margarito didn't land as much because Cotto was moving and started to push Margarito backwards more than the first. Sure, the wraps could have been loaded. But Cotto did fight a more elusive fight than he did the first time. Margo has slowed down considerably... even his punches against Mosely were slow and un-impressive. Perhaps Margo is a better middleweight than he is a welterweight?
Congrats to Cotto. To me it seemed like the biggest difference in this fight is that Cotto actually bought more time in rounds by tying up Margarito and walking him back. This to me was the main difference in the fight. It bought him time and allowed him to get a break from moving constantly. Tony would have needed 20 rounds to get the same outcome as the first fight, Cotto was clearly winning, but Tony was starting to get to him a bit, it was just not enough. We also learned that Margarito should retire since he will swell shut after a few good punches. But really it was about the same fight, just Cotto didn't allow himself to get worn down nearly as quick, Margarito was coming on but with that closed eye and rounds running out, it was not going to be enough this time.
1. fans will stand up for a cheating ******* and discredit his victory no matter how bad of a beatdown their fighter takes 2. margacheato looks like a G, talks like a G, but in the end, is a ***** without "help". (and yes, i would say #2 to margo's face)
:deal Very well put.Conditioning and better pacing were the biggest factors. Putting the first five rounds from first fight to better use by knowing when to take a breather and hold.
