I think Cotto has maybe 1 or 2 fights left before he walks away into an announcing/promoting or training gig.

    I just get that feeling.

What do you think is the wisest option in front of him, and why?

I picked these potential fights because:

Canelo - Needs a name on his resume, has to step it up eventually, might see Cotto as a fading legend and good stepping stone. Also, financially this could be a good money maker for Top Rank/GBP.

Martinez - Guy is looking for name fighters willing to take him on. Probably sees Cotto as beatable but profitable fight.

JCC Jr. - For the same reasons as Canelo.

Pac rematch - I think Pac is looking to go out on top. If the Mayweather fight doesn't happen, I could see Pac trying to cash in one last time against Cotto, a known opponent.

Mayweather - Mayweather is all about high reward/low risk fights. Probably sees this as an easy way to make $25mil.

Paul Williams - Could be a fight Cotto might take because Paul isn't exactly a wrecking ball. Also, Paul could use the exposure if he plans on staying around.

    Someone else?

Id go Mayweather , Pac rematch or Canelo in that order.

    PS- Cotto never fought Mayweather.

I would go for a Canelo fight.

I don't think beating MARGARITOE qualifies as a good win. Floyd's victims are usually coming off a win against a decently ranked fighter.

If I were Cotto I would push for a Pac fight if he stays with TR. (not the fight I actually want to see)

If I were Cotto and moved to GBP I would push for Mayweather. (a fight a few years too late but nonetheless a "good" fight on paper)

Either Pac or Mayweather is where the money is! Canelo won't give him the millions that Cotto will get from a second Pac fight or a Mayweather fight.

I think in every one of those fights barring Chavez , Cotto is the underdog , Canelo could fall into that bracket but he's a collosal sized 54 lb'er , and he's very young and fresh

Lets be straight Cotto is still a WW , he can still make 47 safely without hindering his performance , therefore , id like so see him fight any of the following :

Berto , Ortiz , Khan , Bradley or Alexander

If they can get Chavez to 54 ( which they cannot) that would be a fight id like to see Cotto in , in summary he should return to WW IMHO

If I were Cotto I would announce my retirement, really there is nothing else to prove and to become a stepping stone for another boxer **** that, that's why I think he should stay away from Canelo or Chavez Jr. If he were to fight Pac, the problem will still be the speed and stamina of Manny, Mayweather is very defensive and Sergio is too big. Basically he should retire just as Pac if he doesn't get a Mayweather fight

I'd fancy Kirkland. Then finish off with Canelo or better still Chavez Jr.Or both.
I'd rather he stayed away from Floyd.Sometimes you have to face facts.

Like I said in a different thread.

    Mayweather v Pac
    Cotto vs Sergio

Winners faceoff. Would be the best thing for boxing in 2012 besides the klit bros fighting each other.

Also I think Floyd beats pac and Sergio beats Cotto so:

Mayweather v Martinez in late 2012

this probably wont happen but a man can hope right.-

I voted "Mayweather rematch" because Cotto and Mayweathers first fight was such a battle that really could have gone either way.
