I agree, mate. The Abraham fight was probably the most memorable of any fight I've ever seen because I went to Finland to watch it, and I distinctly remember the views before that fight. The majority of people thought Abraham would knock Froch out without too many problems. However, Froch pulled off a boxing masterclass, better than what either Dirrell or Ward could do against a man they had stylistical advantages over when Froch didn't. He stuck to his gameplan and outboxed Abraham with ease. That was an excellent win. Froch came into the Super 6 being a fighter who relied far too much on his strength, chin and ruggedness. He's turned into a very good boxer. I think he was always capable of that but the Kessler loss made him realise what he needed to improve, so it made him a better fighter.
I take the obsession with Dirrell as acknowledgment of the threat he is to anyone in this division. If you truly believed Froch won clearly and that Dirrell was so trash there would be no reason to keep bringing him up.
I agree that he won't beat Ward, but I don't see anyone at SMW beating him easily, the improvements are there and it's a credit to Carl and Rob Mckracken that he's changed his game at an advanced age. Froch has every physical attribute over Ward, besides speed.(Granted that will be most important.) And the final should finally show us what Ward has inside, anyone who doesn't think Froch is a live underdog is a fool.
I'd like to think that even hardcore Froch fans will acknowledge it could have gone the other way.But I feel he did enough and would win more clearly now. That was a new kind of test for him.
I can't wait SJS! And while I admit I felt (and still do) Carl had his work cut out,I'm getting more and more confident as fight night approaches. Still picking Froch for very late stoppage with the scorecards in the balance.:good
Yep. But remember he only had 17 fights and had never been twelve rounds before. Still his team should have prepared him. Showed him Hatton vs Tszyu or Benn vs Mclellan or something. Made him no that he could be hit with a chair while in the ring and he'd be deducted a point for not letting the chair smash him in the face. Still rounds 10, 11 and 12. Beautiful. Truly showed Dirrell's potential.
"unmanly" Dirrell was measuring up a staggering Froch in the 10th round of their fight, pounding him in the face while Froch covered up impotently and his sad screaming wife looked on with horror and deep concern. Is everybody acquainted with that sequence or should I post a link?
:rofl And while Dirrell was trying to finish Froch on the ropes, Froch grabs the back of Dirrell's head and starts an excellent class display of rabbit punching.
Yes, it is boxing you flute player. This is why boxing has defined heading behind the head, or Rabbit punching as a BOXING FOUL, ya UFC loving, constipated **** packing homo. :yep
