U guys know I'm never one to complain but this is bull****...may vs vic...jmm vs manny...and now cotto vs margo....I'm glad cotto won but god damn I can't stand the ****en controversy ...his eue wasn't getting any worse in fact he was coming on stronger and putting hands on cotto showing glimpses of their first encounter with the uppercut and cotto leaning in looking hurt ....sux that fighters, judges and now drs have a chance in ruining great fights.....hats off to cotto for that display....

Dude, that eye was shut. Completely. Valid stoppage.

Question. If that was any other fighter with no previous eye troubles would the fight have been stopped?

I don't think it should have been stopped...maybe it was just me wanting to see Marg get his ass whooped a little bit more. I don't think he would have come back but they should have given him a chance. Old school boxers used to fight with closed eyes of all the time.

Are you stupid ? Margarito hadn't won a round and was getting destroyed.... his health was definitely at risk if that fight continued. His eye was completely shut.. fights get stopped on much less all of the time. I wanted it to continue, mostly because I wanted to see Marg take even more punishment. Regardless, the stoppage was fine.

We all know why you think this is BS , so please just stop acting like you're not bias on the matter.

Plus, what do you mean he was coming on stronger? The 9th round was one of Cotto's best rounds.... just because Cotto was not willing to trade non-stop with Marg doesn't mean that he was at any risk of losing. He was pushing Margarito against the ropes and forcing him back more and more as the fight went on... the 10-12th would have been dominant Cotto rounds.

Marg wasn't going to stop Cotto this time though. Cotto was still winning the rounds and landing the better shots. Marg kept coming yea, but he wasn't going to win, even if he had taken the last couple rounds.

Not at all, we know who are the only ones complaining:good Marquez/Manny was a close fight a draw would have been good. Floyd pull a legal sucker punch and Cortez clearly yell fight and Ortiz tries to hug him a second time and finally the doctor save Margaritos life were he even mentions more than three rounds were given. This was as much as a mismatch as the Boise State/New Mexico football game said by the ESPN guys:lol:

Freddy, you laughed at my comment about Cotto putting in ten good rounds, and I said 9 or 10 in many pre-fight threads. Now I was a Margarito fan long before the first fight when many came out saying I told you so,even though lots of them hadn't seen him fight, but I think the first fight was the beginning of the end for Tony.I know what you're saying about premature stoppages but surely everyone knew that given the Commision let the fight go ahead, they were always gonna jump in if there was the slightest sign of real damage to that eye.I think we have to swallow the fact that early stoppages are a part of the game now.Over here,a referee let Maccaranelli endure horrendous punishment when he was already down and should have been stopped well before.Tony never stood a chance of being allowed to continue if the eye was bad, even if he was winning.NYSAC were always gonna protect their own asses.

    No.

    Clearly no. (example morales recently)

But they cannot be expected to overlook his past and that crazy looking glass eye that he is sporting.

On another note the doc did cover the ok eye and asked him to count the fingers with the closed eye

    and Margo did it

was a team member tapping his body a few times ? Theres no way he saw the fingers thats for sure

Shutout fight, the man's eye was completely shut, Cotto was pelting him with shots, and Tony wasn't going to win that fight...good stoppage.

The ref in the pacquiao fight thought that margo deserved the chance to go on. Didn't dtop the fight despite a one sided ass kicking and a ****ed up eye. End result, permanent damage to the eye which was evident this time. The stoppage was right

Slick fighters are allowed to use MMA moves so it was legit.
