Better than the fighter that fought Margarito in the first fight.

    - His stamina is better.
    - He's not as reckless - no longer trying to outman the other guy.
    - He's smarter - Moving and holding. He smothered Margarito in close.
    - His footwork is better. He moves away from danger and spins Margarito.
    - Better arsenal - solid jab, good right hand, better range control.
    - Maturity - He's better under pressure. And he is more calculating because of his family values.

His right hand did surprise me. It seemed way more crisp than before.

He has definitely corrected some of the bad habits he developed throughout his career. I think at the peak of his unbeaten run he had developed these habits which actually detracted from his overall game, but weren't addressed until it was too late.

He wasn't leaning forward and bending over with his ear muffs on, which made him far less vulnerable to the uppercut.

He stopped that stupid bending at the knees and squatting **** he used to do, which only got him hit.

He wasn't backing up in straight lines as much, meaning Marg couldn't trap him on the ropes, which is where he did the most damage.

He actually got right up close to Marg's chest and walked him backwards when he did manage to pun him down, this relieved pressure and took away the leverage from Margs punches.

He also showed some nice moves to turn Margo

    Couldn't agree more.

He's not trying to be cute anymore like he use to from time to time. Cotto stayed from the ropes and kept the fight in the center of the ring for most of last night.

He's more aware inside the ring and is more serious fighter.

He certainly looked his best since the first half of the first fight against Marg

That reakky jumped out at me, too. Especially in the second round were he really rocked Margarito with the right hand twice. I don't think i saw Margarito physically moved by any of Cotto's punches that way in the first fight.

Cotto actually had surgery on his right shoulder quite recently (I think), he claimed that he really struggled with his right hand for the majority of his career because of these issues, but the surgery has apparently corrected it.

ah yeah I remember that, remember Steward talking about it, how basically Cotto was nearly a one handed fighter because of the uses of not being able to use his right arm fully.

I wonder where he goes from here. Will he continue to implement these improvements, or now that his most important fight is done with will he revert back to the 'old' Cotto?

I'd like to see him take some big fights, I still think he's a force to be reckoned with.
