Was Miguel Cotto at his best when he fought Pacquiao?

    I don't think he was, obviously when he switched trainers it affected him a lot. I noticed offensively and defensively he wasn't sharp, before that when he fought Clottey you can tell he regressed quit a bit, and against Pacquiao you need to be at 110%. Pacquiao doesn't have the greatest defense, he gets hit a lot. I think Cotto can beat Pacquiao the next time they fight, he just needs a competent trainer.

    Hell no....His trainer was Santiago...so, in reality he trained himself.

    yes he was in great shape. he just had the wrong gameplan. notice in the later rounds when he switched to boxing instead of brawling he gave pac way more problems

    Nope he wasnt, but there is no version of Cotto that would ever beat Pacquiao.

    I wish Cotto got this Cuban for the Pac fight, he would have done so much better.

    Having said that... Pac still beats him at 147....it would be a little bit more competitive at 154

    Yeah but Santiago wasn't a good trainer and he regressed under him, you can see it when he fought Clottey.

    Agreed, and i'm a Cotto fan.

    No he was not at his very best, he had just suffered a brutal loss the year before and had only barely bounced back from it by beating up a nobody and going life and death with Clottey. And obviously he didn't have the most adequate corner for such a huge fight.

    But even a 2007 Cotto loses to that version of Pacquiao 7 days a week and twice on sundays.
