Who wins this since Rios maybe leaving 135 for good after his TKO win of John Murray last night? This has FOTY written all over it (and maybe even FOTD :yep ) I'll take Rios by a disputed decision in a thriller.
Rios might knock Maidana down, but he gets hit too much and too cleanly his damn self. He was hurt from Accosta, so I can definitely see Maidana hurting him. I feel for him, if he could have stayed at 135 he would have been able to look it down, at the higher weight I feel the worst for him.
We've seen Maidana down several times against Ortiz, and we've seen Rios get hit ALOT in his fights as well as hurt against Miguel Acosta. This fight is sure to make some fireworks. The possibility of it happening? .....zero. I'm sure Bob will make Rios fight some in-house fighters starting with Alvarado.
This is the fight I wanna see, except that Maidana's headed to Welter so I don't see it happening anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong though, believe it.
Rios is huge and draining himself at 135. Obviously is a speculation but I think that his punch resistance will also improve when he moves up. Acosta was really tagging him with very precise shots right at the button to hurt him and Rios kept coming. Maidana is one of my favorite fighters but I've seen him wobbled by Morales punches. I know that Morales is god but his punching power is just OK at that weight. I can not see him hurt the 135 pound version of Rios. That are my arguments I would bet on this fight and I only bet when I'm sure of the outcome like the Mares-Agbeko fight this weekend. But once again I think that Rios will win because he can mix it up more and he can use his jab and lead straight right a lot better than Maidana. He has better straight punches and his uppercuts will hurt Maidana on the inside.
its not the time for this fight. rios is just now moving up to 140 . and maidana is moving up to 147 . i actually think maidana can take rios . man this would be action packed but its not the time for this fight . if these guys are still around in a couple year or so then they might be fightin at the same weight n then it would be more realistic right now it has zero chance,
I think Maidana's uppercuts and clubing shots would hurt Rios as well, mainly because the shots are coming from a bigger person and because I don't know if his power "carries" to 140.
