The thing is, we can't rest easy. He's 1-1 with Margarito. There is no proof that Margarito used wraps against Cotto. None. If Cotto is resting easy, it's because he is in denial. Cotto won this time for a variety of reasons (none of which include loaded gloves). 1) Much better conditioning 2) much better game plan 3) Margarito is nowhere close to the fighter he was three years ago (many will claim that it's because of Pacquaio but I blame the first Cotto fight) and 4) Margarito started believing his own hype about his chin. Watch his fights pre-Cotto and you'll see a pressure fighter who had a very underrated defense.

That aside, Cotto put a beat down on Margarito and probably again will if they fight again. But in their primes, Margarito broke him down and beat him badly.

Fighters, trainers, boxing experts and real fans all say plaster is a loaded weapon in which it hits harder. There is a reason why Margarito was not allow to fight in over a year because of this. You really need to follow another sport.

Rico,you've stated more or less my exact feelings,I had a lot of faith invested in this guy since he beat Golden Johnson,and when he won the first fight,it was like my faith was justified,even though unlike Tony,I felt Williams won clearly.However,the first Cotto fight,despite feeling like a coronation was the beginning of the end.I'll never be convinced that his whole career was a fraud though,he was a great fighter to follow but it's never felt right since the Mosley fight,although I wonder if he would at least have gone the distance with Shane,as I'm sure the stoppage had a lot to to with his head being fried because the game was up,I just would never have seen him getting stopped like that with that chin of his.I feel like he's kinda pissed over some of us who were big fans,and although I felt quite good for Cotto the other night,there were times when it was sad seeing the way the tide turned,self inflicted or not.
A Mayorga fight would be a good last resort,can you imagine the build up?
