Opinion about the Stoppage of Cotto-Margarito II?

I think it was a bad stoppage but it doesn't mean that I think Tony was going to comeback and win. I do however feel that Tone would of finished the fight and he would of put pressure on Jotto!

 

Well the Manster did fight, he did make millions and he's still more of a man than you! How does it feel? :rofl

well i predicted Goatto to TKO margarito so im not mad about it , what i am mad about is the useless ref putting a blind eye to Goatto mashing his round head into margarito's eye most of the fight ..this is wards dream ref for the froch fight, as he wont even receive any warnings for his numerous headbutt attempts

PS i say ward the son of a goat gets KtfOttke and Froch to unite the belts,Froch will the continue to provide the crowd with many great fights to come .. while ward will run back to oakland, like the booring sven ottke clone that he is

 

It was the right decision, would have been interesting to see Margo step on the gas peddle and rally for the last 3 rounds.

im mexican, but was not rooting for margarito. the stoppage was a good choice. sure i think margarito had the stamina to continue and possibly land a good punch, but i dont think he would of won by KO.

 

Neither Cotto was gonna win regardless but it didn't need to be stopped early. **** Gatti got his eyes closed or damn near in most his fights, Morales eye was wrecked after the first round against Maidana, Gainer vs Kelley was another one. Like I said Cotto was gonna win regardless the stoppage was stupid though let the fight run it's course like they used to.

 

Pretty much this. I only gave Margo the 9th, no doubt Cotto was starting to fade but still, Margo wouldn't have been able to win in the final 9 minutes.

 

I think it was fair, but felt that Margarito could've continued. I didn't think he was going to rally for the win though.

 

See, but that's exactly the kind of argument that i don't like when people bring it up (not directing this at you personally, just making a point). Like when people say "oh, Margarito's face was busted up way worse against Pacquiao and they let it go on". So? Just because they DID let it go on, doesn't mean they SHOULD have.

The man's eye socket was broken, he needed reconstructive surgery and an artificial lens. Are officials supposed to let every fight get to that point, just to give a guy the honor of going out on his shield or making it to the finish?

I personally was a little bummed out when it was stopped and i wouldn't have minded to see the fight go on for as long as they were both standing up. But i'm a fan, not a referee or a doctor with the responsibility to look out for a man's health and to protect him from his own bravery sometimes.

The stoppage was legit and nobody can objectively say it was bad and too early.

 

Even though margo was still very competitive and had enough stamina to continue, I do not have a problem with the stoppage.

Cotto was doing a great job of moving and avoiding getting trapped against the ropes and corner. Margo was behind in the cards and with that closed up eye he wasn't going to catch Cotto flush. Even if he (Margo) would of took those last two rounds, he wouldn't of won the fight.

 

Unlikely Tony was going win, but as a Boxing fan and not just a Cotto fan who wanted him to win by any means, I would have loved to see those last few rounds, and was disappointed with the ending, but thankfully Rios - Murray put on the show of the night.

 

i agree its a shame to see a warrior like margarito stopped when he will give it his best until then end, but sometimes someone can be to brave for ther own good and theres life outside of boxing with out an eye it wont be so fun
