Ruslan Provodnikov vs. DeMarcus Corley RBR

Two rounds are in the books of a scheduled 12 between light heavyweight prospects Roman Simakov and Sergey Kovalev.

After this will be a 12-round unification of some minor titles (the WBO & WBC Asian/Pacific lightweight titles, to be exact) between Ali Rahimov & Saddam Kietyongyuth, then the main event.

Simakov seems a strong kid but his face is a lightning rod for jabs and right crosses. No fluidity to his movement at all, just coming straight forward and trying to bang it out with a guy who's obviously got something else in mind.

 

Kovalev is actually pretty slick & tricky for an eastern Euro.

He isn't quite on the Proksa/Pirog level of American style mastery, but he isn't far off either.

OOH, knockdown by Kovalev in the 6th - well timed slip & counter flurry.

 

Simakov's face is getting pureed now. A minute left in the sixth, it could be stopped here. He's getting jarred violently from every right hand. Kovalev is hanging outside like a scavenger, swinging his left arm low and clocking Simakov's every move with his cool crocodilian gaze.

Roman survived the round, but it shouldn't be too long before he's pulled out of harm's way.

 

Down again in the 7th, a delayed reaction to a left hook to the body. Badly ****ed up, fawn legs. TKO.

 

Oh ****, this is pretty heavy stuff.

Simakov is in BAD shape. They had to unroll this orange bodybag/stretcher thing to carry him out of the ring. He is unable to move at all apparently, and is in visible agony.

5 rounds deep into Rahimov vs. Kietyongyuth.

Ali is keeping it a ranged archery contest, and is using the old left-arm-held-out-like-a-plank trick with a few bowstring draws and quick sudden jabs to serve as a deterrent. Saddam is trying to scoot in underneath and pop double and triple flash jabs.

Sorry for the lack of detail; I'm at work, slightly busy, and dealing with an EXTREMELY slow internet connection.
