Serious Question - Was Margarito's eye damage definitely related to Pac injury?

Watching the Cotto fight back, the initial injury to Margarito is a jab where Cotto's thumb part of the glove slices along his right eye lid and opens a cut. It looked a pretty nasty connection, and began to bleed and swell instantly.

I remember thinking at the time the injury was unfortunate and wasn't related to the injury suffered against Pacquiao. It seems that this eyelid just began to swell from the impact and eventually closed up after further abuse. However, the bone and area around where his orbital fracture occurred actually seemed to hold up pretty well.

Have I ****ed up and is this already commonly acknowledged? Or have most people attributed the damage to his existing injuries?

This area seemed relatively fine against Cotto, and it was just his eyelid where the cut occurred that was the problem:

Yeah, that had crossed my mind. In certain pics you can clearly see the scare where the sewed him up, and it's underneat the eye, along the eye socket.

But to me the injury just didn't look anything out of the ordinary - his eyelid is sliced open by an awkward punch from Cotto and then begins to swell. Then Cotto proceeds to **** his eye with his fist - and to be honest it doesn't get that much worse. It just closes up, as you'd expect.

 

Actually, looking at this photo there is definitely some swelling beneath the eye, in the are between the eye socket and eye.

Still think the eyelid swelling has a lot to do with the slicing connection with Cotto's jab
