Chavez is too rounded a fighter for Cotto to get the better of him IMO.

I will concede that Miguel was far more adept to 147lb than Chavez. At 140 I'd pick Chavez in a heartbeat.

He could start fast. Look how he come out of the gates against Haugen for instance, could've ended it in the first but toyed with him instead.

I'll go for Miguel to pull out a close decision at 147, maybe.

At 140 Chavez mullers him to a stoppage in 8-10 rounds, and that's being generous.

Considering I've already pointed out fallacies in Khans application that see him severely outgunned and outmanouvered by Floyd, no I don't agree.

No. I think it was Spencer Fearon having a bit of craic.
Apparantly Spencer, Lewis and Naz were on a night out and had some keys to a gym so went down there to see who it harder. Something like that. I vaguely remember Fearon telling Buncey about it.

Great thread, I'm struggling to think of many modern fighters that would cause an upset over some old greats.

My method so far is thinking of a top modern fighter, say Sergio Martinez, and then think of who they could beat from some stand out historic names, but it's proving very difficult.

Who would you favour Martinez against? :huh

 

I wouldn't feel comfortable picking him against Rubin Carter, Florentino Fernandez, Bennie Briscoe, Vito Antufermo.

I'll take Sergio over DeWitt, Barkley, Collins.
