Green's got a pretty decent international profile to get a better fight than a Shane Cameron or Brad Pitt. I guess Green has to weigh up what he wants to achieve and then set out a plan to achieve it. I still would like to see Green fight in the US, which he has only fought twice.
He wouldnt get no were near the $$ in US as he would in Oz imo :good Why go over there when u can make a motza here :hi:
True that. The cruiser division isn't the most high profile either. I guess the dollars has to make sense, but he would still make good coin though PPV cause the hype of a Green title fight (should he get title fight) in the states should sell well from the Aussie fans.
I reckon Danny should ride off into the sunset after having had a decent career and concentrate on his promoting options , failing that he's a bit knackered IMO as he seems too light for Cruiser and too heavy to make Light heavy ( and still be effective there ) whatever he decides I wish the bloke well as it appears to an outsider like myself he has lifted the profile of the sport down under and that can only be a plus for the sport in a worldwide sense .
Green is no good at 200lb. The only fights he has fought there were his last 2, and while he looks healthy and all that he was not in fighting shape because its just too heavy for him. Tarver whooped him bcus he had the better boxing skills. Green was boxing well against Diablo but then ran out of steam, Diablo got him with some good shots and its all over. When can you remember Green trying to outbox guys at 168 or 175? Green was just a pressure/power fighter. But he cant do that at 200lb bcus these guys are just naturally heavier. I think Cameron and Pitt are both bad choices for Green just bcus of the weight.
Another contender series, "cruiserweights". ... Brad Pitt, Dom vea, shane Cameron, Adam Forsyth, Mostyn Nieman, Daniel Amman, Peter cronje, Anthony mckraken, Kane watts, Kerry foley, Victor oganov.... This is a good list most have fought each other, and all would love a shot at green and the big time and the big $$$
He cant match it with the elite CWs of the world, simply because he is not a CW, his only chance left now is to fight domestic level matchups with the likes of Cameron or Pitt, he wont go back down in weight he has stated that it is to detrimental to his health, then again he has never been known for telling the truth.
Green was matching Diablo before he got knackered (well ahead on the cards apparently)... he used to be the fittest man alive, age caught up with him?
Greeny needs a couple of confidence builders before having another world title tilt. He's not going to beat anyone decent coming off two stoppage losses. I think he should fight Kariz Kariuki first up next year & then Shane Cameron. Win those fights and then go after the weakest alphabet champion he can find (i.e. the current WBA Cruiser champ). Wouldn't mind seeing Vic on the undercard of those promotions contending for the IBO or IBF 122 lb straps.

Green held a press conference at Scarborough beach this morning, keeping his sunglasses firmly over his dark eyes as he revealed he wasn't ready to step out of the ring just yet. There was strong speculation that Green would formally retire this morning, and despite having no fights on the horizon, he confirmed he would continue to take on the world's best boxers. "I would like to walk away saying that I can still beat the best," he said. "Age means nothing, it's up to individual." In Wednesday night's WBC cruiserweight title bout on Wednesday night, Green was beaten by Polish Krzysztof "El Diablo" Wlodarczyk in an 11th round knockout. Danny Green is dealt the knockout blow from Krzysztof Wlodarczyk. Photo: Geoff Smith. He has described the knockout blow as one that could knock out a cow, and said he was just happy to have woken. Immediately following the fight on Wednesday, Green said he was happier with the performance more than against Antonio Tarver in Sydney in July. "I took on the best cruiserweight in the world [tonight] and was four minutes away from a fairytale," he said on Wednesday. Green was highly gracious in defeat, congratulating Wlodarczyk on his 46th win in his 49th fight. "Many people said I should retire after the fight against Tarver, and I believed in (my trainer) Angelo and I believed that wasn’t the best I had," he said. "I'm proud of what we did, Angelo and my team. What we achieved I think surprised a lot of people." Green now has five losses from his 36 professional fights and, with one retirement already under his belt, there will be speculation over whether this is the end for the three-time world champion. He now faces minor surgery for cuts inside his lip and his nose, broken in countless bouts, he joked had apparently been fixed by one of Wlodarczyk's heavy blows.
Green got rid of Salas to use Hyder for a cheaper fee. The same reason why Gamboa got rid of Salas recently and then went to Top Rank who then pointed him to Emanuel Steward for a set fee rather than pay for a %. By the way Salas now recently trains Rigondeaux.
