Jim Lampley: Khan Has a Better chance of Beating Mayweather than Pacquiao does!

He just had a great KO over Mayorga in his previous fight, how was he past it? Not starting no BS, just a real question.

 

Why because he beat Zab Judah?

Judah hasn't won a legit fight since KO Spinks.

 

I think he does, Pacquaio can't land his first punch against Mayweather, Khan maybe can with his long jab. That put's him in the fight, where as Pacman is probably neutralised. Khan's got a tighter defence so will be harder to hit and being bigger/taller gives him advantages outside.

The Petterson fight will be interesting though

 

Been Sayin for the last 2 years now. Got destoyed for even mentioning them in the same sentence.

But I've aways thought Khan has the tools to beat Mayweather.

In boxing you can ofter get a good fighter being able to beat a great fighter due to styles. EG Ken Nortan vs Ali.
Douglas Vs Tyson ( I don't think that was a fluke, I think DOuglas has the idea style to beat him)

 

Judah really didn't look that different to me leading up to the Khan fight, his speed and countering abilities were still in tact, and he boxed a good fight against a strong, hard hitting contender in Matthysse. He just fought more reserved (some would say gun shy), but I think that was due to him having Sweet Pea as his new trainer.

Floyd has slipped a bit since the Judah fight a few years ago I think, he doesn't look over the hill just yet, but his speed and timing look to be a little faded. It's just a testament to his fantastic boxing ability that he's still dominating his opposition.

 

I would rather Khan waited atleast a year before he took on Mayweather because I think hes the first guy in a long time who wouldnt be just turning up for the pay day and actually has a chance. This is why I want him to be 100% when he gets to floyd to give him the best chance

 

i can't see Mayweather taking that fight though.

But I coud be wrong.

Judah had always looked the same before or after. Cotto is really the only brutal lost after Floyd he suffered before Khan. Before Floyd, he already was outmuscled by Baldomir, outboxed by Spinks, and KOed by Tyszu. He was the same before, after, and will always be the same.

 

Many shot fighters KO Mayorga. The same people fail to give Cotto credit for his KO buy I give them Mayorga being old. Trinidad and Mosely were past also and still able to KO Mayorga. Oscar hadn't fought anyone formidable since Vargas.

 

Khan doesn't have the reach. He's too sloppy to punch and get out, so he'll fight in the pocket with Mayweather, who's more accurate and powerful. He'd have to Jermain Taylor/B-Hop him to win that fight.

 

Even though Corales may have been the more tougher fighter, thats a very hasty comparison:

1. Corales was painfully slow in that fight. Khan would maybe be the fastest guy Floyd ever fought.

2. Corales never used his jab in his fights he lost. When he did use it, he had more success (See both Casa fights to compare) Khan works of the jab. When has Floyd ever fought a taller opponent who can move? Never unless you count DLH who had the ability but stood right in front of Floyd.

3. Corales followed Mayweather around the ring. Khan never does this even to smaller opponents. Khan has younger legs and bet on Khan to move when he wants.

4. Corales never fought tall and never used his gift of height against his opponents. Khan seems to always fight tall and his only lost was against a taller bigger stronger opponent which Floyd is not.

 

I dont think either have a chance in hell but Khan has more tools i think
