    yeah a great fight.
i'd lean towards martinez to stop cotto on recent form but hell yeah it would be a good match up.

I like Martinez a lot, but I do think he can be tamed. Well-timed straight punches down the middle can offset Martinez's rhythm. Martinez is dangerous because Cotto has trouble when punched at weird angles and of course has all those physical gifts, but if Cotto can nullify that advantage by making him lead with an evasive gameplan (something Martinez isn't always comfortable with) or coming forward and smothering his punches while maintaining a tight guard (after all, he's stronger than we thought he was). It all comes down to footwork and, as Nacho would say, who can control the zone of combat.

On a great night, Cotto could do it. Is it sellable enough that he'd take it? Unfortunately I doubt it.

    great fight for both guys

Cotto(e) gets a shot at proving whether he can still beat an elite fighter or not

Martinez gets exposure and is able to show everyone if he's a 154 pounder or not

Maybe before but williams isnt going to be his old self either. who knows if he is durable as he used to be. I cant see him stopping cotto, yeah he can win on workrate but he doesnt have huge power and its not like he is going to be the only one landing with nothing in return, cotto is more accurate and would land his on williams.

Cotto has a lot of options and he needs to stay the hell away from martinez, canelo, chavez jr, angulo, ortiz, bradley, pacquiao are all better and easier options

I can see Cotto beating segio by UD if he fights a disciplined fight although i wouldn't be shocked if sergio caught him with a big punch & won by KO. I just don't think sergio has fought many credible opponents since williams, a similar argument can be made for cotto, but his confidence seems to has returned since the pacquiao fight, & i have always felt his boxing skills have been under rated.. an awesome fight in anycase

Putting your fight analysis to one side, why do you not see this as a sellable fight?

Cotto's just gained career redemption essentially with the defeat of Margarito (I felt he looked pretty good in doing so as well). Martinez is on a hot streak, is the legit Middleweight Champion of the World, and has had good exposure recently to boot.

I see this is as a very sellable fight; Cotto's proven to have a very strong fan base still and Martinez is obviously an elite opponent for him.

As to the fight itself, I think Martinez would be the strong favorite, depending on his comfort in making 154. Cotto would have to be at his absolute best to win, and I am not certain he is capable of that at this juncture. Would love to see it.

Martinez by very close decision although I could see Cotto winning it.
Martinez is not a god a good solid boxer like cotto could give him problems.
    Very good fight.

I think that what promoters see as sellable nowadays depends on PPV numbers. Martinez has gotten more exposure, but the casual fan is still largely unfamiliar, IMO. If it were sellable, I'd want to see it in a heartbeat, but advertisements that say "Cotto VS Martinez" are only going to catch the attention of people that already watch the sport.

This could of course change with the way they promote it. Boxing in general is promoted badly, I feel. Lots of opportunities for exposure and air time on mainstream channels of information like TV and the internet, and only for huge fights do I see such advertisement. If they can get on their **** and show the public who Martinez really is and why they should pay to see Cotto VS Martinez, then it could do well. If it can't raise at least something like a 2 million dollar purse for Cotto and a sizeable chunk for Arum, I'm afraid it won't get made.

Cotto would need to catch and block many shots on his arms or gloves because Sergiostill too fast. Other than Pacman Cotto actually does very well with southpaws Judah did get the best of Miguel first couple of rounds but Sergio has great stamina and hes a warrior too he'll use his speed to get Cotto to fight. Maravilla is still on fire hes on a level Cotto never got too. Martinez just too superior in almost every department but I hear Cotto has a grudge with him too. Cotto has a chance but after Maravilla beats him haters wont give him credit. I hope Sergio comes down to 154 soon to clean house.
