"In an thrilling final few minutes, Ado Waianga collected a high kick to seemingly secure the win only for England’s Greg Wilde to hit back with an instantaneous response, but it proved to be the last throw of the dice for England as the game finished 22-20."

Ado has put on a fair bit of muscle since I last saw him.

PS - No Wowie Sowie in the All Stars game

I was looking at some photo's last night of Ado and he doesn't look like a boy anymore. Its a real watershed moment. The AIS program has been incredible for him. He has 2 other mates from Darwin in the same program but affiliated at other NRL clubs and they have also developed amazingly as well.

The AIS played their last tour match last night.

    AIS v COMMUNITY LIONS
    Half time : 16 - 16
    FULL TIME : 38 - 24

    LOCKETT PLEASED WITH LIONS PREPARATION
    Story By : RFL

Prelude write up on the Poms.

Community Lions head coach happy ahead of AIS test.

Community Lions U18s head coach Kelvin Lockett is pleased with his sides preparations ahead of the clash with the Australian Institute of Sport tonight, Wednesday 7 December, at Heworth ARLFC, kick off 7.30pm.

His 20-man squad – which was named last week – will hold a final training session this Saturday ahead of the huge test against the high-regarded tourists.

“We’ve had some really good sessions already and I’m really pleased with how they’ve gone,” said Lockett.

“Alan Davidson (Scotland), Colin Phillips (North West) and Chris Baxter (London) have all helped me out and their input has been really useful.

“We’ve really focussed on our defence as we know that we’re going to be tested by a strong AIS side.

“I’m pleased with how our attack has been functioning but I’m hoping that spending more time working on our defensive patterns will stand us in good stead.

“I think we’ve got a lot of athleticism in our side and I’m really looking forward to the game.”

There could be plenty of local interest as Heworth’s Tyler Craig is in with a chance of selection, whilst fellow Yorkshire man Matty Welham (Myton Warriors) could also make the 17.

The last time the AIS faced Community Lions opposition was in 2009 when they overcame England 48-20 at Widnes, and they have travelled over to the UK almost every year since 2003.

    +1

Barba is exciting but doesnt have the allround game like Hayne

Having said that, Hayne is inconsistent & Barba is bloody exciting to watch when he turns it on

I suppose it comes down to size a bit too, Barba is a bit small & cant defend or break the line with strength, its all zip zip with Barba

Watching Barba trying to catch a bomb is like hitting a tennis ball against a brick wall.
Barba is atrocious under the high ball. But he is young, and is still learning the ropes. Hayne is a more established reliable ball player.

Agreed Teke. It's getting to the point where he's almost underrated.

My mate said the same thing to me the other day ie. that Hayne was underrated.

I wonder why he never went on the Roo Tour just gone?
