If Carl Froch would of been on Sky 2 - 3 years ago he would be a genuine star right now. Oh and Barry Hearn is correct to keep him away from Boxnation. Why put him on a rival promoters tv channel?
I don't think Froch would have ever been a 'star'. He's decent to watch - not great - and alot of the fighters he's fought are well-respected but not big names to Joe public. The people that theoretically would've been interested in him had he been given more exposure are most likely already big fans of him.
Froch, under the right circumstances would've been a household name. If that's what is meant by 'star'. Say it quietly, Everyone looks back on Chris Eubanks career with fondness, but there was some right stinkers mixed in with the occassional big fight. Now, granted he had people to bounce off of, but he wasn't particularly great to watch, apart from when he got to the big fights, much less so then Froch. What's the big difference? the television era. I would love to see how Eubank would've got on in this era, as far as crossing over is concerned. IMO he would've been largely unknown, because the platform isn't there for people to become fans/detractors, who wouldn't have become fans or detractors. As Oscar Wilde said. There's only one thing in life worse than being talked about negatively, and that's not being talked about at all.
Your going way over the top mate to be fair, Ward is class i won't deny that but you criminally underate Froch. This is going to be a savagely tough fight for Ward, toughest of his career i think. There is now way he will be let coast it.
Me going over the top, underrating Froch? I'm the only f*cker (apart from Froch loyalists) trying to find an argument for him. Seriously though, Ward will handcuff Frochy, but he'll definitely have to earn it. There's absolutely no give in Carl.
Badlefthook75; Ward is a horrible stylistic matchup for someone with no in-fighting ability. And Frochy is my favourite active fighter!
But thats all based on assumption, we really don't know whats gonna play out. For Ward to effective inside, he needs to tie up and be let tie up. Will he be let, will the ref call break the minute they tie up or let them fight out of it like Weiss did in the Ward-Kessler fight. If we have a guy who is a stickler for keeping it real clean that could throw Ward off a bit, he ain't an unbelievable outside fighter. Froch is a sucker for body punches though and can be hurt but i don't think he would mind at all Ward attempting to close distance and get inside. Froch wants him right infront of him, he doesn't want to have to go after him. Really think Froch wants this to be a tear up, if Ward doesn't oblige then Froch will chase him and thats where Froch will be in trouble because Ward could pick him off.
good of sky to start stuff like this but wont be watching as i aint a fan of his.and him saying warrior every 5seconds doess my tits in.will be watching the fight though
even george groves has said the boxing on skysports this month looks awesome! No mention of BoxNation though...strange:roll:
