How much would the size of chavez jr matter vs Cotto?

He doesn't use his height too well, so Cotto could either get the better of him as the shorter man on the inside, or time him with jabs and straight punches from the outside. It may become rough and the punches might have more weight behind them, but stylistically, it doesn't factor in too much.

 

Yeah... i guess giving him the same name as Duran was a bit offensive.

If i am comparing Margarito to Chavez Jr i would say that Margarito is far more relentless, has better stamina, better hand speed and foot speed as well as a more durable chin. Chavez Jr is also a lot more predictable with how he throws his shots.

I don't think Chavez Jr is skilled enough to impose his size on Cotto. He doesn't even hit hard from what i have seen. So yes i think Cotto will out think him, peck away at him and do it with ease.

 

The fight should not be made. A super welterweight against a light heavyweight is not fair imo.

To go Manfredo to Cotto is quite a jump and could be a rude awakening for JCC Jr but if he is not ready now he will never be ready.

I think Cotto would easily outbox him and win a UD.

Jr's height would actually be a disadvantage, as he'd be punching downward. His 11" reach advantage is significant, but Cotto does not like to bang on the inside so it's not THAT much of a factor.

Fighting a much heavier guy? Ask Mike Tyson how much that matters.

Skill is the #1 factor, followed closely by attitude. Cotto wins easily.

Size matters, but when the gulf in boxing talent and class is as wide as it is in this situation, it doesn't. Cotto handily outboxes him and probably stops it late.
