Canelo, plus Chavez at 160, plus Martinez would do it, I think.

He definitely has the opposition in front of him to be able to do it. Now can he do it? Well thats the question.

Beating Chavez and Martinez he would definitely be close. Avenging the Pac defeat plus Canelo and he surpasses him IMO.

Well, he would have had to defend his belt 10 plus times, then unify it with the p4p best boxer in the world which is Manny or Floyd right now, then move up in weight, unify it in that division with Alvarez and JCC Jr, fight Sturm for a middleweight belt, but lose to Martinez for the undisputed title, retire.. come back.. fight someone like Kirkland, beat him, retire for a little again, come back.. then lose to someone like Mayweather or something, retire again.. come back like 5 years later.. and fight someone like Ward, lose to him.. and then retire for good.

Beating FLoyd and thats is that. Beating PAC is very possible if Cotto would simply box him and stop trying to out muscle him.

Tito had a good reign, but not so spectucular where Cotto cannot catch him. He wins a title at 160 and with the win over Mosley and Margarito and the titles, he looks pretty good.

I really don't think he could surpass Tito, plus his personality, that we see, wouldn't allow it. He accomplished a lot already in the sport, but gets nowhere near the attention that Tito got, and still gets. Despite the accomplishments, he doesn't seem to be very outgoing nor willing to want the spotlight like Tito. I'm not on la isla anymore, so I can't see how he's viewed over there, but I don't see him able to ever surpass Tito.

always said that cotto shouldve started his career at 135 and should be at 140 or just moving up to 147 right now... he was a fat kid but if he wouldve hired a dietitian and taken better care of himself in between fights he couldve made those weights easily

To be fair his frame does look like it's intended to whole a lot of weight. Genetics can be a *****.

IF he miraculously beat Floyd and Pacquiao he would rank higher IMO. Impossible tasks though.

Beating Canelo and Chavez Jr means jack ****ing ****. Nearly irrelevant.

The answer is pretty simple actually.

Beating Pac and Mayweather would without a doubt make him greater then Trinidad.

Beating Mayweather, Pacquiao, and Martinez wouldn't make Cotto a 20 all-time great. None of those guys are special fighters at the weight they're currently competing at. It'd make Cotto an all-time great, but not a top 20 guy.

perception is a ***** so he can surpass tito easily if he keeps winning, a lot of times you win you are elevated and the loser gets downgraded.... this is the sport of what have you done for me lately,,, just look at all the love cotto is receiving here now

Not that I disagree with you, but it's funny how so many people (*******s mainly) consider Pac a top 20 ATG.:rofl
