Is David Haye the only fighter to courageously get up from a Klitschko knockdown

  1. Is David Haye the only fighter to courageously get up from a Klitschko knockdown and actually see out the fight? I've been thinking about this just recently and no other names really spring to mind. Has there been someone else to do this? Fantastic heart from Haye either way. Not many in the sport could or would get up from the canvas after being on the end of such a one sided beat down.

You are talking out of your ass...Every time this fight is discussed, wlads win gets more and more comfortable, it sounds like Haye never landed a shot and got hammered throughout the fight. Utter bull****...

It's gonna be a long time before he gets the credit he is due. One of the great tragedies of the sport.

Haye won 3/4 rounds max. he staqrted well but couldnt get by the jab and underestimated wlads speed.
He didnt really ran imo just couldnt do better without getting ko'd, he tried in the end but wlad was just better than him.
In the middle rounds till 12 wlad was dominating him easily though.
One thing I do give haye credit for is staying up from that huge right in round 4, that might have changed his mentality for the next 7 rounds though.

That knockdown was not a knockdown....
I just think the referee got so fed up with Haye falling to the floor over and over again that he just counted that one.

I agree with this...the referee should have told him that if he wanted to spend so much time on his knees he should think about becoming a hooker.

    :deal

Ensuring that David Haye finally receives the plaudits he deserves for his performance against Wlad is one of the few causes I would die for. It's bull**** that he is slandered for turning in such a courageous display against all the odds. It was the equivalent of Manny Pacquiao vs Carl Froch in the ring that night, a welterweight vs a super middleweight. Not just that, but a welterweight with a broken foot.

Hayters gon' hate I suppose, but not on my watch :bbb

Or he should have warned Wlad about leaning all his bodyweight down on his opponent. Nah, easier to just score a knockdown for the home fighter and collect your bonus at the end

Nah just the foot, but you're kind of right - if you can't put any weight down on your foot then your leg is redundant, so effectively he was fighting with a broken leg, yes.

Actually, why stop there? The toe injury would have impacted the leg, which in turn would have impacted Haye's spine, much like Tyson. Spinal. :deal

Haye can be too brave for his own good sometimes.

He fought 12 rounds with a career threatening injury whilst being outweighed by 30+lbs.

And spinal is the worst kind of back injury you can get.

I genuinely think that Haye would have fight in a wheelchair rather than let the fans down. It kinds of puts into perspective Wlad's 75% pullout rate in his last 4 fights doesn't it. There is no way Wlad would have fought Haye with a broken foot/leg.
