Is Pacquiao-Cotto II Now Inevitable?

Even if the catchweight didn't effect him, in a fight at 150 or above Cotto would have more of a weight advantage on Pac than he did in the first fight. Add to that the experience of the first fight, he'll go in there next time with respect for Pac's power and will be better tactically prepared to deal with it. He's shown great discipline in his perfomances since, with some excellent boxing displays. If you add 10oz gloves in there, which is the norm for the JMW division and he should demand, it all points to a different fight than the first. Not saying he's going to win, but he should have a much better chance and give a much better account of his skills.

Why do you want this fight so badly? Let them fight at different routes.
Manny has a better fish to fry, Cotto has a better fish to fry
There are still better match-ups for them instead of each other

 

If cotto fights and beat either chavez jr, canelo, berto, kahn, bradley, angulo or any other top guy then yes the fight eventually has to happen. I know pacquiao dominated cotto the first time but if cotto keeps winning and raising his level arum has to give him the chance to avenge the loss.

I think he'd do better, but still lose. And I'd rather him beat someone other than Margarito before facing Pac again. AND Pac needs to worry about fighting Mayweather now, Cotto can wait.

 

The man wants to avenge another loss and I commend him for that. I believe he can win, but he needs fight smarter than the first fight. Let's face it, in the first fight his gameplan was simply I'm the bigger man so I am just going to steamroll you. I believe Cotto overlooked Pacquiao and that should also be evident by his decision on keeping Santiago as his main trainer, someone who has never trained a professional fighter in his life. That has to account for a lot and if you believe a world class trainer wouldn't have helped, especially in this situation, than you're just being ignorant to the sport.

In the first fight, the odds were stacked in Pacquiao's favor. I think a rematch between the two with no concessions is a really great match up. Cotto has won every rematch he has taken. I believe this is a very winnable fight for him.

 

Cotto's gameplan in the first bout was ****.....with a solid blue print and a sharper right hand he could preform much better than the first bout. I'm not to sure he wins but I'm pretty positive he leave more bruises on pac than he did a couple years ago. I wouldnt be mad if they made a rematch and those who oppose would still buy the PPV

 

Its not inevitable, but I still want to see this fight even at a 150 catchweight. I like his chances with the better corner, better weight, shown dedication and the ability to stick with a plan. Santiago was never a "Real" trainer, Phil Landman worked Miguel to the 145 pound limit and that was all the training camp focused on.
