Indio, we had three more rounds left. Just say the doc said go ahead and continue. There was a lot of rest time for Cotto. I'm not looking at all that other posters are talking about. I just see two fighters that night and if it continued, Cotto would have won a decision and Marg could have lost an eye. Cotto was aiming for that eye each and everytime. To stop Cotto which is what Marg had to do to win, would have taken a monster shot. I don't really think Marg had it in him to generate that kind of power. I mean, he already asked for round nine from the doc. Ten would have gone by and you know the doctors were going to jump in his corner each and everytime not to lose face because I think these are the doctors that past him for Marg to take the fight. If he would have lost his eye due to the fight, the doctors will feel like it would have been their fault for letting the fight go. I'm sure they told Marg prior to the fight that they were going to keep a close eye on him. Hey, maybe there will be a third fight since it is one and one. Get some good rest, fight a couple of contenders and take it from there. If not, he earned a lot of money already. Retire and enjoy your money.

 

i agree. i think that the stoppage was the right call. cotto probably would have won, but we'll never know for sure. in their first fight margo didnt ko cotto with one punch. it was an accumulation of punishment and fatigue. who knows. like u say, margarito should get some rest, let the eye heal and we'll see what happens. in the meantime, cotto has a big big year ahead of him and i m happy for him. he seems like a great guy and i ve always liked him as a boxer. the **** i talk about him is just that.

Fighters that try to mess with their wraps deserve no second chance. He deserves the same thing Panama Lewis got. A lifetime ban.

 

Lewis is completely different to Margarito. For one, Lewis is a trainer and is more comparable to Capetillo. Secondly, his guilt is definite, like Capetiillo's, but not like Margarito's. Resto actually admitted he knew about the gloves but did Margarito? We simple don't know.

Panama Lewis didn't just cheat in the Resto/Collins fight though. He cheated in other fights and he cheated his fighters just as much as he cheated their opponent.

 

Give it up up dude. Really. He's a grown ass man. He has no excuse, zero. You can try and justify 7 ways to sunday. He's a cheat, a farce, a fake, a joke.

 

that's bull**** and you know it....YOU WANNA BELIEVE he knew, but his trainer and him said he had no clue...backed up by many great trainers saying "if i wanted to slip something in my fighters wraps, i can do it without them knowing"

people that have never boxed, trained, wrapped or been wrapped seem to be the couch potatos that know everything about the sport
