Oscar De La Hoya was a find, exactly what Boxing needed after the fall of Mike Tyson.

Definitely great fighter, just a notch below his Daddy, Trinidad! Too bad he tried too hard to go after Trini's leftovers a great deal of time, a fact most ppl overlook. If he really thought he won that fight he should've manned up, take his fishnets off, and accept the rematch with Tito with a realistic purse demand!
BTW, in his prime, he would've defo beaten Floyd and most probably pacquiao!!

Truer words were never spoken. If he didn't have that kind of promotion surrounding him, and didn't become a ****-eating grin bull**** promoter later, he'd be far less criticized for his losses or lesser outings, and far more respected for his achievements and how incredibly beastly he was at his best.

Oscar De La Hoya has done more for boxing than any other fighter in the last 40 years.

95% of the people know Oscar put a boxing clinic on Tito...Winky, and Hopkins are two fighters who fought and beat Tito who have expressed that they felt Oscar beat Tito.

As for Tito's left overs, it was Mayorga and Vargas, and a tune up against Campas....And that's because Tito is naturally bigger than Oscar, so as Oscar grew and moved up, he came across fighters Tito had already fought....Oscar fought everyone so therefore he was going to fight fighters other fighters had already fought.....Tito on the other had fought Whitaker, a De La Hoya left over, someone Tito should have fought lobg before DLH did, OH, and he never fought the other WW champ in Quartey...So While Trinidad's reign at 147 was longer than Oscar, in Oscar's short stay at that weight or shorter stay I should say, Oscar fought better quality fighters including Tito himself and schooled him.

As far as the rematch goes, Trinidad DEMANDED the bigger purse, which is absurd considering Oscar was the much bigger draw and was ROBBED.

Also, Tito moved up in weight almost immediately and by the time Oscar moved up to 154, Tito had quickly moved to 160 and when Oscar approached him in Puerto Rico for a rematch, Tito said only if it's at 160, but we had all seen what terrible shape Oscar looked at 160.

Oscar then offered Tito a multi million dollar deal for the rematch, one more fight and a rubber match if it was needed...TITO DECLINED.

Oscar NEVER ducked anyone, especially a fighter he dominated like Tito.

see, I think he lost the first mosley fight 115-113 but won the second one 116-112. I've watched the quartey fight a dozen times and each time I have Oscar winning by one point and had he not knocked down Quartey in last round, a draw or loss. He outlanded Quartey and knocked him down once more. He did everything a champ has to do and knocked that homerun in the 12th to seal it. Quartey wasn't doing much in the latter rounds but throwin an odd jab. oscar was scoring with the odd combo but he was landing more clean punches.
I had Oscar winning the pernell fight also since Pernell really didn't do anything but dance and goof around, he wasn't landing any punches really. Oscar missed a ton but still landed more clean punches.
I had Oscar losing vs. Sturm but that fight was a joke anyway, Oscar was fat and obviously didn't take the fight seriously.
Trinidad loss was a disaster and really fuked Oscar's career. He won that fight, regardless of him running away the last 2 rounds. He built a big lead and no way tito winning last 2-3 rounds gave him the fight.
Mosley 2 was another bull**** decision. Both fights Oscar landed well over 100 more punches and it was obvious watching the fights. I know Don King fuked Oscar vs. Tito but I don't know what happened in the Mosley 2 fight. I don't know how he got fuked out of that one.

Don't know whether to laugh or cry when what Whitaker did is called "just dance and goof around".
