What is the reason for some people's dislike of the Klitschkos?

Joe, do you remember that WLad was actually on HBO (the home of boxing in the biggest boxing market in the world) until he put in one of the most pathetic fights of all time against Ibrigimov and got dropped. Then he got another crack at it when he fought a guy in Haye who he had huge physical advantages aover, but instead of grasing the opportunity to put on a show and get heavyweight boxing back on the map, he just put on another 12 round ultra cautious jab fest.

    But yeah, it's all racism

I've learnt a lot from this thread...I'm not a big fan of either brother but I had no idea that made me a white hating racist & automatically biased against anyone not from the UK, I feel awful.

I also never understood that the jab-jab-grab style is exciting & represents the highest technical skill level of any fighter, regardless of height or weight advantages. How dumb does that make me?

I have clearly been brainwashed by American anti-Klit propaganda all these years so I'm not entirely at fault but I am trying to change. Thankyou for this wonderful thread.

Also If you don't like Klitschkos, according to Joe Mackenzie, that automatically makes you a David Haye Fan boy.

Yer work out the logic in that...

Apparently there is no correlation between how many over sensitive, emotional and insecure fanboys a fighter has and the amount of people making jokes and negative comments about that fighter.

Oh Joe, how stupid you are . . .

Well, the Klitschkos could be held responsible for the decline in the interest in heavyweight boxing. For example, when Wlad fought Ibragimov, HBO pushed him so much and MSG made sure that New York made it into a huge deal. However, Wlad put on such a dire performance that HBO stopped showing heavyweight fights, New York stopped showing boxing as a whole for a while and the entire division and sport suffered.

Does that deserve indifference or anger?

People forget that HBO and the mainstream media gave Wlad such a huge chance. He was on primetime TV for ****s sake, and yet his fans churn our this moronic idea that the world are against the Klitschkos.

I asked this question earlier on in the thread but, unsurprisingly, it didn't get answered, so I'll ask it again: Which fighters were pushed as much as Wlad was before the Ibragimov fight?

I know! The guy was on the biggest boxing channel in the biggest boxing market in the world, he had hype behind him, they put him on at the Mecca of boxing - but he stunk the joint out and got dropped.

It happens - HBO don't owe him anything, they're in the business of finding fighters with styles people will want to watch - and the majority of people don't want to watch a Wlad vs Iggy style fight, so they dropped him.

The thing is he got ANOTHER chance At American tv coverage against Haye. They hyped it and it got more coverage than any heavyweight fight in AGES - yet Wlad put on another cautious 12 round jab and grab.

Joe, I actually had hope for you, I thought you would not fall into the typical Klitlicker stereotype.

For god sake, why in the hell do you think that the only reason why people are not big fans of the bros is because they are white?

Could it be because their fans talk about them on this board 24/7 clogging up the boards with this ****?

Could it be because people are ssssssssssssssssooooooooooo tired of hearing about how Big V was gonna KO LL in the next couple of rounds and refuse to admit that having your face ripped off is a go reason to stop a fight?

Could it be because that the hardcore klitlickers claim that they are the GOAT 1 and 2? you do not think that has something to do with race? Especially since prime Big Bros LOST to LL when he was at the tail end of his career!

Could it because Klitlickers constantly talk about how they have dominated this era (even though this is the worse era ever) and that makes them so great.

Could it be that the hardcore klitlickers that the bros are the best in every way at everything (better Jab then holmes, more powerful that Big George, better all around than ali)

could it be because most Klitlickers are not fans of boxing, just the bros, and if they did not exist they would be into MMA.

The bros are not my favourite fighters, but I do not hate them . . . I hate their fans!!! Stupid **** lot waste of space

I see Joe has vanished. I don't expect him to address any points made here - its easier just to call everyone a racist

Yep but in a couple of years when Wlad has no American exposure, the division is even less exciting, there will be threads on here with idiotic Klitschko fans asking "Why are HBO ignoring Wlad?".

The simple fact is, Wlad has been given far more opportunities than most fighters. At the time of the Ibragimov fight, there was maybe 3 or 4 fighters who recieved similar hype to what Wlad got and that's important to remember. HBO did their part in it and all they wanted Wlad to do was put in a good performance.

What happened? Fans were booing after a couple of rounds. It was a flop of enormous magnitude. It essentially killed off the division in America.

When Wlad did get a second chance against a guy who has a poor chin and should have been knocked out, what did Wlad do? He fought cautiously again. I know someone will pop up here and say it was Haye's fault but it wasn't, it was the fault of both men. Haye being a counter puncher is likely to be in boring fights against inactive fighters and it was Wlad who would have dictated the pace of the right. The sad fact is, he was more than happy to be boring rather than try and stop a guy who has a poor chin.

Was it against Chambers that Steward was screaming at him, telling him he must get the stoppage? That's the reason why people don't like Wlad. He doesn't have the mentality of a fighter. To him, the best way is the cautious way. Against someone who he supposedly hated in Haye, he still didn't go in for the kill.

That's what fans want to see when they watch heavyweights and Wlad doesn't offer it, so why would he have a large fanbase?

I suppose the closest would be "European fighting style". However, a better option would be "They don't provide entertainment".

I had to go to work - I'm not a welfare bum like you. You have too much free time on your hands. I arrived here at work a little late today because I foolishly wasted too much time replying to your posts.

Get a job, then you won't have time to obsessively troll the Klitschkos threads and harrass their fans.

Joe, let me ask you something simple. Please name the fighters who received more hype and attention than Wlad did prior to the Ibragimov fight.

    1. Because some people are not astute enough to see what makes them so effective, therefore undervalue what they're so effective at. Some people seem to think all you have to do is take it to them, or move laterally.

    2. Because its so easy to coerce and manipulate public opinion if your part of the media, as there are so many sheep out there afraid to give their own opinion in case they're wrong and get laughed at for not following conventional thinking. People are scared to be wrong cause they think it makes them look foolish, and some people cant have that cause they have massive ego's. They would rather be part of the crowd that runs with conventional thinking so they can laugh at someone else if that person gets proved wrong. The American media have almost demonized the Klits because they're not American. Look how desperate they become trying to Champion Arreola as the next American hope. Listen to Lennox Lewis & Manny Steward prior to the Holyfield fight talking about biased and favourable the American media were being in the lead up to the Holyfield fight, they were so pro Holyfield it was unreal. I dont know if you can say American people are biased, but their media definitely are.

Larry Holmes was boring as hell aside from a few fights (Norton, Weaver 2, Shavers 2) Not only does Holmes draw comparisons with Wlad in that sense, his competition was also questioned throughout his reign, yet Holmes gets mad respect now he's retired, but Holmes was American of coarse.

I aint a fan of Wlad, infact he can be quite boring at times, but I do respect what he does and what makes him so effective. I like Vitali though. Controversial but I think he would man handle and KO Mike Tyson infact.
