I don't beleive for a second he was gay man.I think that's a load bull s--t tbh .I don't think the boxing world will ever know what's happened .How many deaths we had ( boxing ) Gatti Valero Corrales Forrest Arguello Sutherland . Gatti .F----d up story . Suicide or murder Valero .F----d up story . Murder and suicide it could have been last I read Corrales .Accident Forrest F-----d up story . Robbed and murdered Arguello F----d up story . Suicide Sutherland ? Who knows man it's a cruel world we live in but get real man no chance he was gay
I think loneliness was a major problem for him, stuck in Bromley on his own with not much to do. Probably dwelling on things rather then going out and forgetting little worries he'd sit there and think and think about even most minor things. It's a sad state of affairs whether he was gay/bi/hetro/metro i don't care he's a sad loss to boxing and most importantly his family.
I agree so much it makes me want to cry for Darren a little. There is nothing worse than feeling isolated, bored and with no one to talk to. It can make everything negative thing you feel become the only thing for you in the world. Why he did it doesnt really matter, just that he did it, and the world is a lesser place without him.
I couldnt give 2 shits if Darren was gay I would of still supported him, the reason I think its a joke what Lirva has said is because I know lads that box out of St.Saviours the club Darren boxed out off and I never once heard that rumour before . Look what has been started by that stupid unfounded bit of **** Lirva said, the whole thread has turned into wheater he was gay or not . Well done Lirva .
I understand you might suffer from Down Syndrome but I will try to explain. Actually, it might be better to direct you to my previous post on the thread. I don't expect you to read it, but its a link to a post made a year ago by a guy saying Sutherland was gay. Now, it probably would be too much to expect you to piece the dots together and realise that I didnt start that rumour but maybe someone can explain it to you and you might understand it better. Good luck mate.
You brought it up here with no basis other than a bloke down the pub told me. It added nothing to the discussion because, as weve already clarified, being gay alone doesnt lead to suicide all that often.
Again, I am dealing with someone who has shown poor comprehension skills and a "judge judy" mentality on this thread but I will persevere as I am trying to kill time here. The thread starter asked if anyone had heard any reasons as to why Sutherland took his own life. I had heard a reason (and I am clearly not the only one). So I posted the reason I had heard. Your intellect is having extreme amounts of difficulty comprehending that, which I am not surprised about.
No you said first you heard he was gay then backtracked and found a post from long ago about someone saying, it did'nt need to be dragged up as its clearly bull**** .
I think it depends on the culture/background you come from to be honest. Many people are gay and there isnt a problem for them within their family.Others though can live in a small community or have a religious background etc etc and thats when it can become a problem for them to accept who they are and for others close to them to accept them. If it was proven that he was gay or bi-sexual then that very well could have been the reason but at the end of the day its just speculation. Like someone else said, being alone and fears of not fulfilling his potential IMO would have been the cause of his depression which led to his death.
I get exactly what you're saying, but being gay is not a reason to commit suicide. To say so is pretty silly. You shot your own argument down when you quoted barlow, by the way.
You need to educate yourself on the statistics. I suggest starting here, http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?tool=pmcentrez&artid=2040383
http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2002-08/uoc--sar080502.php UCSF researchers have found that twelve percent of urban gay and bisexual men have attempted suicide in their lifetime, a rate three times higher than the overall rate for American adult males.
If you read the rest of the piece it attributes that to harassment and not sexuality. Plus it's one study, not a review of a number. I'd need to read through the whole thing to see what the controls were. Irrespective, being gay does not make you suicidal. That study suggests the behaviour towards gay men is more likely. It also focuses on failed attempts. All of this is missing the point, there's no evidence that darren was gay and no suggestion his sexuality played any part in his suicide. Bringing it up is ignorant and thoughtless.
