Hunter isn't that bad, he was selected to train the US olympic team along with Roach so i'm guessing he must be decent.

But anyway if Khan wants to fight the man in my avatar next he must put on a great great performance.

Yeah I think he's a good trainer, underrated. dftaylor probably is right though, Peterson is very rigid.

I've always found the fact Hunter's gym never had a speed ball strange, minor thing but just strange.

Peterson looked like he lacked belief early on with Ortiz, once he let go he went on to cause Ortiz problems. He's got the heart of a lion and has gifts but yes what has the gameplan been? really couldn't tell you myself.

The problem isn't Hunter. IIRC Hunter was also the trainer for his brother Anthony in the Rios fight? I remember feeling so sorry for him because he was saying all the right things but Anthony would/could not execute.

Yeah. If I recall he kept telling Anthony to keep it on the outside but he kept languishing inside with the bigger Rios. Its even been said by Hunter that the Bradley fight was the first fight Lamont had failed to listen to him.

Barry's slightly underrated, good coach, good in corner with advice he's a positive for Lamont but tomorrow night they have to make it pay. 2nd chance at a world title(s) gotta take it.

I think they just completely underrated Rios in that fight. Lamont was the favorite, he had the HBO promo which would have gone along great with a victory, they thought Rios would be a come forward plodder they'd keep on the outside all night and win a UD.

You can be a good trainer overall, but bad for a certain fighter. Those sort of guys need a rigid approach to the fight, including adjustments they’ll need to make if they struggle. Then it needs to be drilled into them until it’s second nature, using the pads for punch placement and form, and sparring to utilise with a moving opponent.

The Bradley fight is instructive here – Timmy is a grafter. Not very big, not very fast, can’t punch hard – but he is very aware of what’s going on around him, he does move well and he’d adaptable.

He wins because he works out a gameplan that covers all the bases for what he can do in the ring and what his opponent can. He doesn’t deviate from it unless it stops working and he always has a plan B and a C.

Bradley had success early with Peterson by fighting at mid-range. Lamont went down and came storming back and, when Timmy realised he was getting tagged too much to the body, he stepped out to long-range and moved.

It wasn’t forced because he executed it perfectly round after round. That takes preparation.

Sorry, little wordy – just my feeling from watching the two. And the reason I still think Timmy beats Khan.

Slightly off topic but Bradleys coach Joel Diaz is very good especially his corner advice

i remember in the holt fight when timmy went down joel asked him in the corner "are you ok?" to which tim replied "yes" and joel said something along the lines of.. "good. you got knocked down i know bbut get over it, stick to the gameplan we practice and no you know how hard he hits you can measure how cautious you need to be"

in another fight i think probably against peterson bradley was smothering his punches joel in the corner told him "listen when you're on the inside you smother your punches, after you throw your combinations hold him to reset your feet then let go and continue"

I'm in the West of Scotland, if I was going to Aberdeen then I'd be going "up to Aberdeen", if I was going to London then I'd be going "down to London" :yep
