    Both were evenly legitimate.

It doesn't matter if the boxer was winning clearly, losing badly or was in a competitive fight.
An injury caused by punches that threathens the health of a boxer should result in a stoppage. The question afterwards can be if there needs to be a rematch, wich does depend on how the fight went.

    Both were legit

I think the ref had no choice at all in the Lewis Klitschko fight. You can't let that carry on.

The ref for Margo Cotto maybe could have let it carry on for a round but that would have been the wrong choice imo. Margarito may not care about his own health but the referee has responsibility over it and he's the one to blame if Margo got blinded or something.

    Lewis TKO 6
    Cotto TKO 10

    2 irrefutable facts about boxing.

    Vitaly's was 100% legit...
    Margo's wasn't!! Why??

Because they shouldn't even let him fight. If he was ok then why there were so uch mess with him getting the license? So the stoppage wasn't legit as the fight never had to happen.

Don't get me wrong I like Tony as fighter but every time he fights after PAc's fight he risks losing vision

I dont see how Vitali could have carried on - his corner put butterfly stitches on his cuts - if the ref hadnt stopped the fight when he did and Vitali came out for another round surely he would of been disqualified, because butterfly stitches aren't allowed during a fight

It does raise questions as to whether his corner were gonna pull him out anyway, but the doctor pre empted them....Why put butterfly stitches in between rounds??

 Marg's eye was completely shut.

It's not a ****ing beauty contest, its about if they can see or not.

Vitali's vision was impaired as determined by the doctor, hence the stoppage. Competitive match but that's the way it goes.

Marg's vision was completely blind in that eye clearly, hence the stoppage. Fight wasn't even competitive...Marg was getting killed.

You can't let a man fight on if his vision is seriously impaired and he can't see punches coming. Especially if he's getting his ass kicked all night with no chance of winning.

From Lefthook31, who I believe has gym experience.

That does not look like a butterfly bandage on Vitalis face, it appears to be a piece of gauze most likely soaked in adrenaline that they just left in the cut to stop the bleeding because it was so big. The corner didnt appear to want to stop the fight in my opinion, but Lewis would have ended it round 7, vitali was finished.

The Lewis stoppage has always been acceptable to me even though Klitschko was beating his ass, he deserved a rematch.

Margarito on the other hand recently had surgery so they played it safe. regardless he got his ass kicked by cotto which doesnt warrant a rematch.

Here's an interesting one. Terrible corner work as the bleeding couldn't be stopped, Jones clealry couldn't see out of that eye. He was losing every round in lopsided fashion..yet the fight was allowed to continue. Go figure..
