    Terrible

Ive seen the footage of him being taken out of the ring. It looked very unprofessional - its some ****ing coal sack. No oxygen, no anethesist. A disgrace.

    RIP

The blow that landed was actually a light body shot. But he had taken a fair amount of punishment.

He collapsed, and they basically put him on a 'stretcher' (more like a plastic blanket). As Pathmanc says no oxygen or anethesist. They just bundled him out of the ring.

  5. Damn :-(. Very sad news.

    R.I.P.

It shouldn't happen in this day and age due to negligence. The only way a fighter should be able to lose his life in the ring is through absolute freak circumstances. Not because some promoter or commission has failed to provide the proper medical resources. Investigation needs to be thorough and open.

    Rest in peace Roman.

The only way you can defend boxing as a legitimate sport is if you do everything possible to ensure the fighters saftey.

Like others have said this may have been very different in the UK, I watched the fight & after Simakov collapsed there was no oxygen, no stretcher & no resuscitation equipment/anaesthetist.

A more sympathetic corner might have stopped the fight earlier as Simakov was taking a beating. Watching them drag that poor guy out of the ring on an orange plastic sack with handles made my blood boil.

Totally agree. Without trying to go overboard, it was like 'Well, this one is done. Who's next'

    That's how I felt as well :-(

If any good can come out of this it might encourage other countries to adopt similar medical measures to those the BBBoC enforce.

Last Saturday Wolak, Murray & Margarito all took a serious beating, there was that McClellan doc on monday & now a tragic death in the ring.

To the casual observer boxing must look pretty grim at the moment.

RIP. Hopefully there's a serious investigation into this. The whole setup looked dangerous and unprofessional. They put him straight into a body bag FFS. It looked like some kind of future dystopian nightmare. Boxing is a dangerous sport, but that doesn't excuse negligence. A lot of serious injuries can be avoided, and if this was one of them, the guilty parties need to be punished and serious changes made.
