The bigger men he fought were not at there natural fighting weight. This is what takes the glory away from the win. Cotto was a good win, but couldn't Pac have done that at 147 instead of a couple of pounds less then that. De la Hoya and Marg drained from there natural fighting weight. By the time Pac met Mosley, Pac was an already established welter weight. Considering Mosley decline, age and back to back poor performances, the fight shouldn't of never even happened. Add all of the above to the same style fighters he's always put against and I would say he is overrated. He's a good brawler, but when he put against diversity (Marquez) then suddenly Pac luster loses it's shine.
He's grossly overrated by fanboys, but highly discredited by attackers. Sure a good number of his resume's names have their flaws going into their fights, but compiling such a list of names across 7/8 weight-classes is a monumental accomplishment. It's impossible for Pacquiao to have very few viable competitors out there right now by sheer luck, entering the game and rising just at the time his opponents would be old or weakened or without a proper corner for a whole decade. He does his job, and he does it well.
I think he's got decent skills but I can live with this; kind of like how Jones' athleticism was placed on a pedestal much more so than his underrated skills
I dont believe that, not always that might have been the case with mosley and marg but people gave cotto and hatton a very good shot. Had margarito won people would have said cotto was tailormaide for him.
funny how most people on esb picked him to lose against de la hoya (at 147) , hatton (post mayweather), and cotto (at 145) they were ALL TOO BIG :nut Give the lil asian dude a break. Its sad because im pretty god damn sure it has somethin to do with his race.

MC: I felt really good at that weight. It wasnt a problem for me.
He is over rated by some because he has been put such on a high pedastal in the last 2 years.. When people say he is the best in the history is an example considering the last 100 years of boxing where guys have 100 fights under their belt.
I'll concede that normally rational people picked Cotto over Pac. That's as far as I'm going. The only people I remember picking Hatton were either British or Teddy Atlas(Idiotish).
This is true, people discredit him because of his fans acting he is the goat and because he is very much in the media nowaday, if he wasnt a superstar or outshining floyd for years everyone would love him like they do with morales.
He has been a betting favorite in every fight since DLH. The "chances" he has been taking are carefully calculated.
Its not that weird, pac fights first fight at 135 after marquez 2 looks impressive vs diaz, people already wanted him to fight hatton then. Sure hatton lost vs floyd at 147 but he looked good at 140 and was considered a very good opponent for pac, after pac beat Oscar that changed to people thinking pac wins but hatton had a very good chance to win. It was either pac by ud/late tko or hatton ko, hatton was the bigger guy and thought of as a rough opponent, since pac only had beaten oscar above 135 and he looked so bad it was basically very possible for ricky to win. Nobody expected pac to win in such brutal fashion like he did.
depends on who you ask. Same with every other fighter. You can't have a "fighter overrated" thread without naming who are overrating him because some overrate him, some underrate him.
