Pacquiao vs Kosta Tszyu

There is usually pretty ridiculous statements made on both sides when this topic comes up.

I see more situations where Manny wins...but it would be a good tussle for a while.

If Kostya abandons his skills and tries to brawl with Manny he gets stopped nearly every IMO...If he fought smart and didn't gift Manny easy openings, he probably would run Pac very close in the end.
Maybe edges a close decision, maybe drops one or maybe gets stopped when slightly ahead on points.

Either this fight ain't ending early and it ain't going to be one way traffic throughout.

 

Never rated Tsyzu at all. Sure he had a good win over Judah after being outboxed in the first round but other than that, which I felt was a bit lucky, I cant see what else there is about Tsyzu,
I think Pacquiao would be too busy and would take out Tsyzu in the later rounds

 

Prime for prime?

Kostya, but he is also the bigger man I think.

Prime Kostya was an awesome fighter. So is Pac, but he is just a bit better than the competition.. prime Kostya blew competition away.

 

Speed kills

 

Pacquiao get KO in 1. Fantasy fight.

 

In some cases yes, but timing is the counter to speed, and Pacquaio is very open for a right hand.

Yeah. Zab Judah was perhaps the fastest P4P when he fought Kostya.

 

Timing kills speed, as Pac found out vs JMM.

Tszyu had great timing, and was a master of distance when given the space and he had the knockout power to make it count. He never had too much trouble finding the target vs speedy athletic fighters.

A Tszyu knockout would be a good bet to take as he would probably be a fair underdog against current Pac, as Kostya was against Judah and Mitchell in his two biggest wins.

Pressure fighters were the type Tyszu struggled with because they didn't afford him any space. Could Pac fight him like that? Possibly, he'd have to resort back to his fighting style in the lower weights, I don't know that he's a good enough inside fighter though.

Pac's also never really been hurt or rocked at 140+, so he could possibly be able to take Tszyu's bombs, and if he can I'd favor him by decision. It would be a great fight.

 

He got beat by a 40 year old lightweight at welterweight. Kind of hurts his fantasy stock. And the fact that he actually lost before does too.

 

Back on topic, before I would say Pac in a heartbeat bc I feel Tszyu is overrated. But, I gave Pac too much credit for his boxing ability. Kosta had a weird kind of style that is good against a guy like Pac. You could rough him up bc he needs space to work and get his shots off but Pac is not a mauler physical fighter. Wheb do you see Pac pushing people around fighting on the inside using rough house tactics. Pac is a mid range machine gun. Kosta was a long range and mid range sharp shooter that was not dependent on a jab. Basically a southpaw killer. Slight edge to tszyu but Pac is able to win the fight by KO but he will go through hell and high water to do it. Pac has great chin to go 12 regardless.

 

tszyu is the most overrated fighter on ESB

But his style would suit Manny who in turn would take a UD.
