I thought the first deduction was unfair. it was very harsh. But what i cannot get my head around is WHY OH WHY DID AMIR KHAN CONTINUE TO DO THE SAME THING?"?

youve just had a point deducted. youve been warned OVER AND OVER. its not about it being fair or not. WHY CONTINUE TO DO IT?! he only has HIMSELf to blame!

in any sport, if the ref is calling a fight/match a certain way, you adjust. you do what u have to do to win. In basketball if the ref is calling shitty fouls, you ADJUST. in football if your on a yellow card which you felt was unfair, you ADJUST. Khan the idiot carried on round after round doing the same BS he was deducted a point for. what the **** was he thinking?!?

Without that deduction, he would have won the fight. Even if the first deduction was unfair, he would still have won the fight. So he lost because of his OWN STUPIDITY. Full stop. Yes the ref was questionable. But then the khan KD was bull**** aswel!

it all boils down to khan;s idiotic decision to continue to push, despite being warned over and over again.

With the deductions the score was FAIRLY scored 113-112 Petersen.

And petersen is a classy ****ing guy. Hats off.

I bet they try and get a Vegas rematch with Cortez who let Khan do what he wanted vs Maidana.

because Peterson was finding it easy to get close, and Amir has no inside game. When he didn't push he got trapped on the ropes and ate uppercuts and body shots

this pushing with elbows should be called more often and points deducted if need be, especially by referee Joe Cortez against his favorite client.

I have to agree. I believe the ref should have pulled Khan aside and give him a stern warning the first time, instead of just surprising him with a point deduction. However, Khan was pushing a lot and the ref did quickly throw it out there - in the midst of action unfortunately - that it was the last warning. It wasn't clear, but he did warn him.

And when it came to the end, Khan was indeed stupid for committing a foul that he knows has already cost him a point. Why, in the last round, would you ****ing risk doing it again?

Sure, Oscar owns Cortez and in Vages they let him bring his on judges and refs.

Hagler used to push all the time. It's something aggresive fighters do.

He's been doing it in most fights to cover for his poor inside game. So it's probably hard to change when being pressured so much.

I've got no issue with the ref. Thought he was fine and helped create a great fight.

Ali used to push his opponents off..
Shane Mosley pushed Margerito off how many times without deductions?

Amir got shafted here, but hats off to Lamont for deserving the fight. Period.

at the end of the day, Petersen walked Khan down and roughed him up on the inside. Khan could NOT handle it. looking to the ref time after time to help him out. he had to resort to pushing because he couldnt handle Lamont inside

    JIM i agree with you.

    Khan;s deduction was unfair.
but my point is that when youve ALREADY been deducted a point and warned over and over...in an extremely close fight, the LAST thing you do is carry on pushing.

its not about fair or unfair in the ring. in the ring its about doing what u have to do to win. and ALL khan had to do to win was NOT push him off in the 12th round, and he would have kept his belts.

Khan ****ed it up for himself

Still not fair doing that. There is nothing justifiable about pushing a guy constantly. I can understand holding his head down if he you think he's going to butt you, but push him half way across the ring cuz he comes in with his head??? Why?
Plus, Khan wasn't just pushing... He was using the elbow with his front hand, and push off with his back. Something like Mayweather does, but Mayweather just does it to get a little breathing room. Khan means to shove you across the ring. Mayweather's elbows are also unfair as well.

He can't fight inside. Like at all. Zero. Pretty crazy when you think about it.
