Guys like Kirkland and Peterson are examples of everything that is right with boxing. You had both fighters who needed to something to prove and were the big underdogs. Kirkland, who recently got out of jail and was KO'd shockingly a few fights earlier, managed to whip Angulo in his hometown. Peterson, who had a rough life with his brother over the years, managed to overcome Khan with the hometown crowd by his side. Who do you think had the better "feel-good" win?
Peterson because Angulo ain't nothing but a bum. Angulo is not even a world champion and he got beat by a weak minded Cintron.
Peterson was gifted a win, clearly even though he fought well. Kirklands was much more impressive and was a ko.
Still love both fights with the underdogs winning. Kirkland looked more impressive beating Angulo one-sidedly, while Peterson holds the better win against a top fighter.
Peterson was the better win simply because he won a title. Kirkland would have been great if the WBC didn't change the fight from a mandatory eliminator to a quarter final eliminator after Kirkland destroyed the potential Mexico vs Mexico fight of Angulo-Canelo
Kirkland going to Mexico and Knocking out Angulo of course.. That was BAD ASS! Peterson didnt even win, BS decision!
Kirkland. Kirkland beat the hell out of Angulo, who had even more mystique than Khan did. Props to both men, though. HUGE wins, and wins that made Golden Boy sad. :?
Peterson. By far. Kirkland got lucky that Angulo is a dumbass and completely gassed himself out more then anything, and that's what he has to thank for his easy victory... although not so easy since he was on the deck in the first round. Peterson took it to Khan for 12 long rounds in a great fight and fairly got the nod.
