did anybody else have a problem with the way peterson trainer pushed his head back

Yea, i was like wtf, but if peterson was okay about it, then its not an issue.

 

Shocked me for a second but I don't think he'd do it unless they had a relationship where he felt comfortable doing it..

 

Huh? Trinidad's dad slap his son many times in the corner. Steward keep screaming at lewis in the corner many times as if lewis was losing the fight against tyson. Hunter just making sure peterson stay in the game and dont hold back.

 

With all due respect, I'm willing to bet that no one cares more for Lamont Peterson than Barry Hunter does. And I'm also willing to bet that Barry Hunter has a real good sense of what is needed to motivate Lamont Peterson, and would not do anything in the corner to harm his fighter's chance at gaining a World Title.

I wouldn't judge it, honestly, though I did take notice. Emanuel Steward beats the **** out of Volo and Lennox's chest, for ****'s sake. I don't know what their interpersonal dynamics are, in that relationship. Some people forget the trainer is in a very intense and emotional situation too. That he's worked his ass off too. That it's his livelihood on the line too. That he wins and loses with his fighter. Maybe he figured he knows his fighter, knows what buttons to press, when to press them and how hard.

 

Yeah I thought that to myself too it was a bit over the top. But I guess he was trying to wake Peterson up when he seemed to be losing momentum.

 

That might be over board but as a trainer, you don't want your fighter with his head down.

You will try to motivate your fighter in any way.

He owns Peterson from the heart. That was legit, in my eyes that trainer could do whatever he wanted and Peterson would respect him.

They had 3 plans for khan, and only went to plan b. In a rematch they start with plan b and IF khan can suddenly deal with inside fighting or a ref like Cortez saves him from that, Peterson and his coach can bring in plan c. Roach gotta a lot of work to do with khan, becuase running across the ring and putting earmuffs on eating body punches and uppercuts won't win him the rematch

 

I definitely took issue with the trainers actions. He had his fingers extended in a way that could have really hurt his already damaged eye....seems like he's taking the father figure thing over the edge. I'm sure he means well but definitely over the line. I imagine Peterson had a problem with it so you never know what he might do now that he has the belts

 

He knows his guy better than we do. I had a coach that would hit me once in a while and it was never distracting.
