only watched the fight live and no-one in the sky commentry team or pundits thought the ref was that bad or the point deduction where unfair and i agree with them i also agree with Nelson in saying Khan fought the wrong fight, hope peterson gets well paid for the rematch
I'm actually looking forward to seeing this fight later now. Is it just me or are a lot of people trying to make out Khan's some sort of lost cause?
its just the usual ESB kneejerk reaction whenever anyone loses. it was a good fight - Peterson took full advantage of Khans limitations and had a ref who was sympathetic to that style of infighting. khan will come again, but i would rule him out of fighting anyone elite in the next couple of years
Fell asleep last night & missed it, just watched it & scored it 114-112 Khan but there were 2-3 close rounds. The ref was poor but Amir didnt do himself any favours by ignoring his constant instructions. Credit to Peterson for his committed performance, gutted for Khan but he'll be back.
Khan seems to be dynamite for upto 5 or 6 rounds ... from then on hes taken into the trenches too often .. Anyone that can survive the early Khan speed has a great chance in the second half of the fight. Im no Khan hater ...and to be fair hes great to watch as most of his fights are exciting ... but hes been cleverly matched with big names who have either seen better days or one trick ponies who can bang but cannot box or box and cannot bang. I do wonder how well he would do at WW ..

ESB for you mate Khan's limitations have always been there. Peterson just exposed it to a greater level than anyone else before him. He hurt khan on numerous occasions, out worked him in the inside, and negated his speed pretty well. Khan's footwork and infighting are very bad. He can forget about the likes of Mayweather and Pacquiao until he addresses these issues. Having speed is one thing, but using it effectively is another. Also, I'd like to see him stop putting his arms in the air like Pacquiao. I think he tries to copy him too much rather than concentrating on his own work
Whether the decutions were ''harsh'' or not is a bit irrelevant for me. No matter how frivolous they seemed, he was committing fouls. He was warned about committing said fouls numerous times, he continued to foul. It's warranted in that scenario, this isn't some sort of reverse Agbeko-Mares 1.
Completely agree. He probably didn't deserve a second point taken off, but when you have been warned numerous occasions and you keep fouling, you have to expect points to be taken
Just watched the fight, and Khan won by atleast 2 clear rounds. He did the cleaner work and landed the better shots throughout. Even fighting off the backfoot he seemed to land with power. Ref was a disgrace, whats worse? Peterson leading with his head or Khan pushing him away. I'd do a class action lawsuit against him simply cos he's black :lol
the deductions were maybe a bit poor,but it evened out the 'knockdown',not a chance that was or both were knockdowns,it was typical khan,rushing in with fast punchs,the 2nd 'knockdown' khan got caught by the better punch,a left hook. good job it was'nt in england,the ref would of stopped it in the 1st

I think he meant they were relevant to the outcome. But it was irrelevant whether they were harsh or not considering the ref was constantly warning Amir about fouling, and khan continued to do it
Fight says more about Khan than it does Peterson for me. Lamont still isn't top tier, Bradley made that abundantly clear when he dominates him, as did the need for some abysmal judging to scrape a draw against Ortiz. He isn't world level base on this fight, I think it showed that Khans flaws and limitations won't allow him to beat the best fighters, though his speed will allow him success against some. I thought Khan beat Peterson, but it was damn close and if you let that happen in your opponents hometown, then you're gonna lose. Both of these fighters are a step below Bradley if you ask me.
