The Khan fight got me thinking. Britain has a a bit fo a rep as being one of those 'hometown' places where you struggle to get a decision (the story of worldwide boxing really). I can think ox examples in Germany, America and ofcourse more recently Finland. However aside from the highly contentious Dirrel v Froch I cant think of any controversial examples of the above
Cox vs Sai for one recent example. But I would say British judges main problem is their incompetance/corruption in general. There have been so many shocking cards, like the judges that had Lynes vs Purdy and Rose vs Arron a draw for instance.
Yeah hm. With fights like Fury v McDermott 1 and the refereeing of Bellew v McKenzie its kind of hard to isolate it as a problem specifically for fighters travelling from abroad and not just terrible and corrupt officals who gowith the favourite and the money spinner, although I guess this can be argued this is usually the hometown fighter and this represents inherant bias against fighters from abroad. Anyone think of any high profile examples, spanning back years and decades?
Sai vs Cox was bad. Though I'm not sure it was as bad as having Arron ahead against Rose. 120-108 for Rose could be justified ffs.
Hopefully very soon, I was proper gutted for Sai, not only did he get punched in the bollocks 10,000 times, he beats the guy up and gets jobbed at the end of it. :-(
I remember that fight. Was an awful decision! I wrote an email to the board of control about that one, but they didn't bother replying. Didn't really expect a reply TBH though.
Think the cox fight probably had all british judges with it being a commonwealth title fight and we know how **** the judging is getting with a good proportion of domestic title fights
